Anyone watching this so far? Not keen on the layout of 12 thousand heats all in one show and then the rest on the next days show. It was great having them one a night, but the show is still great. I get addicted...

Oh damn. I knew there was something I was supposed to record last week. But I see from the iPlayer that the first episode was 89 minutes long. Was that three groups of six?

I much preferred the BBC Two approach to have six people every night in a half-hour broadcast and a weekly 'final' with the best four. I understand that there's fierce competition for scheduling on BBC One, but I like to get my Masterchef fix on a daily basis - and not just for the final week.

So, did anyone from here decide to apply for this year's show? I must admit I was tempted, but there's a lot missing from my repertoire and I bottled it completely.

Maybe next year. Maybe.

Watched it last week and whilst not keen on the new format either, I thought it was as good as ever. Wallace and Torode work really well together with some amusing yet incisive and honest comments. Torode - never seen a man open his mouth so wide to take a bite. Wallace - when he looks over his glasses when putting a spoonful of pudding into his mouth, you know he approves.

Is Greg still trying to eat every piece of cutlery he puts in his mouth?

I await the day someone makes him a dessert with an edible spoon...

^ haha

So far I think the contestants have been much better than previous years. Most of them manged to actually cook something properly without burning it or leaving it raw

Quite enjoyed it so far, also routing for Terry :p

Also been watching Australian Masterchef on Watch, totally addicted to it.
It has been running for quite a while now and is on pretty much everynight, totally different set-up to the UK version.

I have a bit of beef with Torode and Wallace.

1) Does Greg Wallace just say what John Torode said before him but in a slightly different way?

2) Whats with John Torode's excrutiatingly long pause while he is eating a mouthful of food....it takes him about 15 seconds to remove the cutlery from his mouth.

3) What exactly is an ingredients expert?, Wallace as far as i know was a greengrocer then was on saturday kitchen (i may be wrong)

4) Why does Greg Wallace look like he is about to have an orgasm every time someone even mentions something sweet.

Apart from the above i enjoy Masterchef :D

Did you see the one with John Torode as guest judge? The others were like Wayne's World "we're not worthy!".

Hehe indeed, amazed he didn't end up with a bit of a god-complex :p

Have to admit, i haven't heard of most of the aussie guest chefs in the challenges :o

Love the show, although i think this round of contestants have big boots to fill on the last winner of MC.... (steve was it?)
Shame i'm crap at cooking though, i love watching these programs, they make me wanna go out and slice some **** up and start being creative in the kitchen !!
