Check the news sites. Been there a few times to see Shamu.

One of the whales has killed a female trainer today. Must have been horrible to have been in the audience. Some kids will not get over that for a while.

RIP

Sky says that the trainer was found in the tank but the US sites I have seen says she was shaken to death with the audience there. Oh well who to believe.

Sad for the trainer but I don't agree with keeping animals like killer whales in captivity and used for our entertainment. I just hope they don't do anything rash like destroy the creature :(

For the record I've never seen Free Willy :p

One from tampa..

So who is telling the truth?

"The whale "took off really fast in the tank, and then he came back, shot up in the air, grabbed the trainer by the waist and started thrashing around"

"Jim Solomons of the Orlando County Sheriff's Office, said the trainer slipped or fell into the whale's tank, which seemed to contradict Biniak's description"

RIP to the guy :(

Been twice, 2nd time we went a show was starting and the trainers were not happy and they had to stall the start, think their was a young pup that was in the tanks at the back playing up.

The KW are massive and they could kill a human in a second, its the risk you take every time you work with such a powerful creature.

3rd death in that particular whales pool.

In 1991 he killed a 24 year old trainer with 2 other whales "playing" and 1999 a man was found dead in his pool who had sneaked in.

Whatever happened it is a sad news item.

Shouldn't be keeping animals like this in such bad surroundings for our entertainment.
Won't be losing any sleep over the death.
