Hi, I have one of the i5 OCUK bundles running at 4Ghz. Nothing but problems so far but finally got my mobo back today with new RAM. I am trying some of the stress tests again which showed up issues before.

I am getting temps of around 40 idle and around 75-80 during intel burn test. When the temps get up to around 80ish then I still get system reboots.

I am thinking of donating this kit free to a good home - its a pile of rubbish in my book. So fed up!

Thats what I thought. I have reapplied thermal paste to the cooler tonight but still crashing and forcing restarts over 80 in IntelBurnTest. Maybe it just isn't an accurate tool? It keeps warning me about stability issues etc. Apparently the RAM was faulty in this machine but now that its back i have the same issues.

Use Real Temp to monitor your temps, set TJ max to 100c

Run Prime95 on a blend test for 8 hours and make sure your system and overclock is stable, ive not heard of pre-overclocked bundles not being stable but you never know.

Stay with Prime95 for 15-20 mins as if its going to fail it'll most likely do it quickly.

Also, what fan setup have you got?

You could switch the H50 fan to an intake, it usually only makes a couple of degrees difference but if your case is hot then its not going to help, SpeedFan gives a good range of temp readings if you dont use it already.

Run Prime and keep an eye on temps, from a quick google the i5 runs at similar temps to my Q9550, i know its not a very good comparison but my Q9550 @ 3.7Ghz idles at 28 28 37 37 and under load its low 60's after a couple of hours.

Generally when a CPU gets too hot it'll throttle down to save the PC from crashing.

Temps are now idling at around 40. Something is seriously wrong there. In OCCT or IBT it fails with temps at around high 60s. Maybe there is a temperature range where it classes certain temps as unstable. I think its all going back. I can't be bothered with this hassle. Wish I had bought a new mac instead!

I had a system i built a while back that gave me headache after headache. I went out and bought a brand new imac £1400 worth , stuck with it and in the end sold it as i missed FSX too much.

Macs arent bulletproof either and the beauty of PC is if it does go wrong its normally easier to fix.

Hi m8, try taking your side panel off if temps drop you need to improve your case air flow(how warm is your room), phone the OCUK tech department or send them a webnote telling them your bundle is still un-stable and they will help you or ask them if they have any different OC profiles for your build to try.

Have alook at my sig if my room temp go's upto about 23'c my idle temps go up to 42'c / load about 77'c(intelburntest)

I think there is something else going wrong. Im sure other people get higher temps than me on IntelBurnTest but it still crashes. OCCT the same. I'm not convinced that anything was changed about my bundle.

Have to tested your system with Prime95?

If it's passed 8 hours of that then it is going to be a temp issue, if not then you need to get a stable system first.

Call Overclockers, their service is great and they'll be able to sort something out.

If you've got their overclocked profile saved then reset CMOS and try the system and stock speeds, if thats stable and you're still reading high temps then the H50 may be at fault, fit the stock CPU cooler if you have it or another one that you've used before and see if that lowers temps, as said above the H50 is only as good as a top end air cooler, its just quieter.

Was running other tests last night like OCCT and the temps never got above 75. Loading windows gives me BSODs, as does games, and stress tests. Don't think it is a temperatures issue really.

Going to demand a new bundle. I don't actually think OCUK did anything other than send it back to me as it was.

In the past few weeks I have called their support line around 10 times and some were helpful - some not at all.

You shouldn't have to touch this. You paid for a bundle thats stable at 4Ghz. They should pay to have it collected and replace it with one that has no troubles.

I will be on the phone first thing tomorrow all being well. I've had the new system since 10th Feb, RMA'd gfx card which was replaced, then RMA'd bundle which was sent back. Now I am still having worse issues than ever.

I will take only a new bundle or else a full refund for the whole lot with them paying to collect it. I can't afford postage from NI. It's a killer.
