I'm going to get a new system next week and trying to decide which OS to use.

I've kept with XP and missed out Vista however with the new graphics cards it's probably time to change now for DX11 etc. Anyway I'm guessing 64bit is the way to go? question is what version Home, Professional or Ultimate?

Not considering price is there any advantage in getting Pro or Ultimate over the home verson? the machine will be used only for gaming.

Thanks all, if there's no performance gains to be had with the Pro and Ultimate then it seems Home will meet my needs.

Can't remember how much max supported RAM Home listed. Just got to consider if you will need more than that during the life of the OS. But I think it was something like 16GB, so not likely

yeah, Home Premium supports 16GB and Professional and Ultimate support 192GB
