does this spell the end for this monster franchise ?

treyarch have a game coming out in november but with how battlefield is looking i cant see it doing to well .whats your opinions?

.whats your opinions?

I think BC2 is a pile of Garbage & can't wait for BF3. Last COD i got is 4 & that is like fighting in a Tea cup compared to BF2.
I'll stick with BF2 until BF3 comes out thank you very much.

No. Treyarch, if they stick to their formula used in World at War (which I loved) will hopefully bring out a corker for the next COD title.

BFBC2 is awesome.
BF3 will be awesome hopefully.

BF3 was mentioned above, is there any ETA for that game?

I also think BC2 is poo, but i will still play it due to the fact of dedicated servers :)

In 2008, anyone who would've said Activision would be culling the studios behind the Guitar Hero and Call of Duty franchises would've been laughed off as a lunatic

Says it all really... ATVI have lost the plot, blind greed has taken over, I will not be buying another COD game and especially not paying for any DLC for MW2... infact no more Activision games I'm not putting a penny into encouraging that attitude- thank goodness idsoftware saw the way things were going and jumped to a publisher that still cares.

I don't think BC2 will topple the COD series tho - last time I played it it was clunky at best - its not going to appeal to either of the 2 main audiences, the hardcore sim types will stick with the likes of ArmA II, the adrenaline junkies who make up COD's main audience will find it too slow and clumsy.

Treyarch rarely make a good game.

If infinity ward knows whats good for them they will jump ship... tho I don't know where because theres not really any publishers left who understand their IP - most these days seem to be focused on either fantasy games, sports games, mmos, sims and racing games.

If you don't like BC2, you probably won't like BF3. It's almost certain that they will keep the same gameplay mechanics and general feel of the game, but hopefully increase the scale of the whole thing a lot more.

malc30 if you dont like BC2 then i wouldn't hold to much hope for BF3 mate, its going to be designed off the same engine as BC2, if you gave BC2 time you would start to see BF2! Evolution man... its key to game development!

BF3 will likely take BF:BC and mix it in with BF2 style..... i.e bigger maps, jets, bigger online player base etc.

ON OP:

I do hope its the death of COD aka IW, they have tainted the FPS market and tried to brake up the PC community.....

Firstly the game was never designed to be played in squad based game play... it was more a case lets see how many people i can kill in a round... rather than lets work together and take the objective. Much more suited to console

secondly they took our unique trate off us.... No dedicated servers.

So in all good bye to IW on PC, i wont be buying anything off them again! Let consoles have COD and we have BF!

The Call of Duty series will continue so long as there is still something left to milk. When it ends, you'll know. At least when Final Fantasy make the next game they pretty much overhaul the entire game, CoD is just replicated, renamed and repriced, yet people just buy it because its 'new'.

They wont end it any time soon not on consoles at least, its too mcuh of a cash cow for them.

I just wish they would go back to the old formual that made the first call of duty games so good (1 and 2) Instead of having crappy gimicks and perks jsut focus on the game play and the maps.

i think if treyarch use dedi's and dont go silly with the perks then they could maybe revive cod for pc, but i think bc2 and medal of honour may be the end of cod on the pc if treyarch dont get it right.

For me and a lot of people, the franchise died as soon as 402 announce IWnet and with the rumours going around that future COD's will be on a monthly subscription, I cannot see me owning another COD game.

If Treyarch bring a game out with dedi servers and no monthly subs, I *may* give it a chance.

But as Evilsod said, as long as there is something to milk the franchise will carry on, however I cannot see it lasting on the PC for much longer.

errm no.

MW2 was a huge financial success and a very popular game, the cod series will continue to make bucket loads of cash for the next few years.

Can't argue with that although you can see a distinct difference between the earlier games and more recent.

The COD franchise is bigger than any two individuals.

Lol, not a chance in hell. The 'silly' perks are there because either a) the devs are morons or b) the players are morons and need something to keep there attention or c) both. Activision don't give a damn about balance. My brother keeps telling me about his use of the Riot Shield as a battering ram because its indestructable and other stupid stuff like that.

And yes, the last boycott was awesome, with the boycott group full of people playing it on release day :p

The thing is, CoD MW2 would've been a comercial success if they stopped all previews and simply released MW again with an updated multiplayer. People just bought it because its CoD and it got so much hype.
