Super Special Southern Meet of Ultimate Win (Hampshire Mini Meet) IV

Is there a twice as much torque than power corner ?

Probably yes, knowing some of the stuff we have around here.

I'm actually in the unusual position of having more torque in lbs/ft than I do power in bhp with an n/a petrol engine :p ...nowhere near twice though, 286bhp and 325lbs/ft of torque. I thought it was 310lbs/ft but actually it seems to be 325lbs/ft as I have the later M62TU B44 from 1998+

No I didn't realise either to be honest, it does feel like a lot more torque than the 3.5 V8 in the Jag I had, that had 254lbs/ft iirc ...but had 264bhp ...and the car weighed a bit less than the 540i so you would imagine given the power and weight differences that they would have very similar performance, well no, the BMW feels and is quite a bit quicker ...you can really tell especially in the lower and middle parts of the rev range that it has a load more torque.

I have around 90hp and 190lb/ft at the moment, probably because of the dump valve.

The wierdest thing is no one can find said dump valve in the engine bay. Someone suggested the cars chipped and thats why its a loud noise but it doesnt feel chipped.

Only 90? I thought you had some chipped 150bhp thing?

Nope, I know it sounds crazy but a lot of the guys on the VXR forums have been running around the same power on stock internals for years. I've not heard any horror stories yet with engines failing or even gear boxes.

would these be the same members that said 400 lb/ft was safe in the vectra gearbox ?

They most certainly would be. Same tuner too.

You have been warned.

I know the astra VXR LEH engine is a decendant of the C20LET engine that is so notorious for its ability to soak up power. and it most probably will be allright

but im just warning you that theres far too many people on the VXL scene out to make money, and far too many people to follow them and repeat whats been told to them as gospel.
