Did they run the tests right? Was the xbox in the right mode? Because thats standard, TV broadcast SD. I'm sure Microsoft wouldn't even allow a 360 game that only ran in SD....would they?

If its true, the 360 version is truly poor.

I've seen these claims on quite a few other forums as well. I think another thing to bear in mind is that Halo 3 and CoDMW2 are both <720p games and they turned out okay.

Doesn't really affect me, I have a 360 and a PS3, guess which version I'm getting? :D

I'm sure digital foundry will do a full comparison on eurogamer. They normally do quite a good job.

Yeah, it is pretty crazy, but the more i look at these images, the more it does indeed look like a PS2 game on acid.

The Xbox version is really quite blurry indeed compared to the PS3.
I think the actual quality of these pictures in general are quite poor however.
 
Im really tempted to get a copy on xbox360 and ps3. Ill play the PS3 copy and my granfer can play the xbox360 copy:D

Is there any difference with the freebies with the PS3 and Xbox360 or are they both the same?
 
Pre-ordered with express delivery from GAME. Money went out today, hoping for dispatch tomorrow, delivery Saturday or Monday.

I'll be very surprised if people do get theirs tomorrow. Surprised and jealous. :P

XBOX's cutscenes are upscaled 576p also. Check out these two pics taken from FMV footage on the Advent Children Complete Blu-Ray. The first is true 1080p; the second is the same image scaled down to 576 and stretched back up to full HD.

Open them both up in separate tabs and flick between them. The difference is pretty big. Especially if you're playing on a large TV.

I've got Advent Children Complete and the FFXIII teaser is beautiful. Also, download the 1080p International Release Trailer from the PSN if you can. Stunning stuff. Leona's song actually seems to fit quite well. Though I guess it is still a theatrical trailer.

Also regarding ACC, the new scenes in the film are rendered at 1080p. However the old original sequences are upscaled 720p. It's quite obvious when one isn't looking at native resolution. 720 on a 1080 TV simply doesn't have the sharpness, being it not pixel-to-pixel. I imagine 576p on a 1080p TV will look quite bad.
 
So excited for this, might just get a day of on tuesday, havent pre ordered at all, but im sure i will be able to get a copy easily enough.
 
Eurogamer review says it's quite good. Also in their tech analysis they say:

The rumours are true. Final Fantasy XIII on Xbox 360 isn't anywhere near as impressive as it is on PlayStation 3. The real kicker is that it's a lot worse than it should have been.

...by just about every measurable criteria, it seems that the Xbox 360 version of Final Fantasy XIII is a quick port

So it seems ps3 version is definitely the way to go if you have the choice.
 
Yah seems the 360 version really takes a hit. 576p and "frequently awful" encoding on the FMVs. Some of the comparison shots in the tech review are like night and day.

I guess its gonna be way less obvious when you're just sitting there playing it, but still, a huge draw to the game for me was how OMG some parts look, the 1080p cutscenes are mindblowingly good. A shame that aspect of it is spoiled for people who only have 360.
