Official OMG I've finally got my 5830 thread

Right...somehow this seem more like the "Official OMG I am a sucker thread"...

"The performance of the HD 5830 is mid-way between that of a HD 5770 and a HD 5850 and yet its price isn't"- bit-tech.

I think that's all we need to know about 5830 lol

Im considering buying one if there prices go down :( in theory should they be better than the 5770 at higher resolutions ?

if i see one for £160 im snapping it up anyway. Hope there will be a vapor x version.

Indeed there's no such thing as a bad card, just a wrongly priced card.

At £150 it's a good addition to the line up, at £210 the laughing policeman immediately springs to mind.

You forgot the *** in the title, it's essential for official threads.

A well known site is now selling 5850 cheaper than 5830. Proof indeed that the graphics industry has gone mad. Who will buy a 5830 now?
The price of that 5850 is a one-off (probable loss-leader) and will not be repeated for a long time. 5850 pricing will remain at ~£230-240 for some months (due to ATI to partner part pricing and the weakened £). The 5830 is overpriced by ~£50 but it is unfair to compare it to such a short-term bargain.

Prices of the 5830 will drop very soon because NOBODY is buying them. What a lemon of a product from a company that until recently was bang-on-form.

edit: The total madness is the fact that many brands of very popular 5850's are now out of stock becuase partners have been forced to supply the 5830 turds instead. What a waste of 58xx GPU's...

I know what you are referring to but the card in question is a Poowercolor and thus has no warranty or support whatsoever.
That is not true. If you purchase a Powercolor card (or any other item) from Overlockers or any other UK retailer you are fully covered by the retailer for 1 year. Some manufacturuers (Asus, MSI etc) do offer longer warranties but to say Powercolor cards have "no support or warranty whatsoever" is scaremongering and false. This card has the same (low) chance of failure as any other brand.

The retailer you buy equipment from and the support they provide is more important than any manufacturers direct warranty (within the first year atleast). I own an Asus 5850 which holds a 3 year warranty, but that does not put me off of Powercolor or any other brand.
