New 775 motherboard needed

Is it really worth buying a new 775 motherboard now? What's your full spec? If you can't afford a new CPU/Mobo/RAM now then i'd just get a budget or used one to carry you through.

That said, what have you done to try to fix your problem?

I can't afford new mobo/ram/CPU, and will probably be a while before I upgrade, the new graphics card should give a big enough boost for a while.

My spec is:
dual core 6600 2.4ghz overclocked to 3.3
5770
600w seasonic psu
2gb ram
asus p5ne-sli motherboard

have tried clearing the CMOS to no effect. And I can't plug my old graphics card in as it's fried. The computer won't post at all even after multiple restarts, a lot of people have massive incompatibility issues with my motherboard and ati 5xxx cards. As a result I'm not sure if there's anything I can do about that.

As above, Members Market is the place to go. Look for an Abit IP35 Pro, Asus P5Q or one of the many other P45 boards available.

You could start a Wanted thread and wait for responses.

Check the bay. I just got a brand new Gigabyte EP43-UD3L v1.2 still sealed in it's box for £35!! That's half the normal price. Nothing wrong with it at all. There are bargains to be had on there if you are careful and steer clear of all the so called "untested" ones.

Hello, my current Asus P5ne-sli motherboard refuses to work with my new 5770 so i'm in need of a new one.

What would you recommend for £80 max?

Needs to be capable of some good overclocking. I was thinking of this perhaps - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-172-GI&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=1155

This is the same issue that I had with mine, was RMA's back to Asus as it was knackered. Bear in mind (depending on the Retailer) that Asus have a 3 year warranty on all boards.

Asus have a 3 year warranty on all boards.

This is because it generally takes 3 years to get your board RMA'ed with Asus...abysmal warranty support in the past but apparently they are trying to cut it down from 3 years to a 5 days turnaround...

As already stated, just get something for the time being to keep you going until you can afford a decent upgrade.

Agree with the other members, buy 2nd hand or just go for one of the lower end boards. Most of the gigabyte boards should at least be able to offer the same overclock on your 6600.

I have an IP35 Pro myself, great bored - shame ABIT are bust now and no more support/bios updates etc :( sucks I had probs with mine and windows 7 BSOD's but it seems to have stoped since I loaded the beta bios 18 on.

I'm not a hardcore overclocker, as long as it will get me to 3.3ghz, the same as my previous motherboard then I'll be happy.

My main problem with that board is the lack of choice of RAM dividers. So unless you have some 1066MHz DDR2 (which is still annoyingly expensive) you'll hit a wall quite early on low multiplier CPUs.
