*** Final Fantasy XIII ***

It's basically press A to continue. I didn't have a clue what I was doing but it didn't matter because I still somehow 5 starred every fight.

Yeah it's like that for a while hence the reviewers saying the start is like a tutorial. It doesn't stay like that :p

I have played a couple of hours so far and have not formed a definite opinion as it does take a while to get going. Early on you have few options in combat and only now is it opening up.

Graphics nice except for some of the most noticeable absence of of AF I have come across in a PS3 game so far. The cut scenes are are simply stunning and the audio is very good.

Was in Sainsbury's today and they had posters up saying it'll be £34.99 on PS3 and 360 on Tuesday.

This is what the game should be like from the very start. (No spoiler, just someone walking around a field)

That looks omg stunning. I just can't justify 20 hours in a tunnel to get to the good bit. I just can't do it. I hope versus is like this.

WTB a save point + rental!

Looks amazing, reminds me of FFXI (MMO) running around in Konschtat Highlands!

Really want FFXIV to come out now lol!

Can't wait to play FFXIII as well though.

hmm, 20 hours in a tunnel... Its the storyline though right? Like final fantasy 7 where at the beginning you're stuck in\under Midgar? As long as its story driven, I dont see the problem. We'll see anyways lol

It is, yeah. I don't wanna say too much of course, but there is a story driven reason for it. (Bear in mind though, when you were in Midgar in FF7, you weren't stuck in one long tunnel. You rode on trains, went into buildings, visited towns, had a load of varied locations, done some cross dressing etc. It may have been linear, but the distractions were plenty and they worked).

I can't help but feel though, the story driven reason in FF13 was put in place as a bandaid, to cover up the fact that graphics and pretty CGI was more important than good gameplay.

FFX is set on a linear path and everyone liked that.

I agree I miss the old fun activities and stuff though. They had the balance right between exploring and guiding you in VII VIII and IX.

Also you aren't literally in a tunnel for 20 hours o_o Fair enough you can't leave the route but it's pretty varied.

Nice video :). Certainly looks pretty to look at, which is a key feature for me with rpg's. I like the little touches they've done with all those monsters to make the area more lively as if they're part of the wildlife and not just random npcs plodding back and forth.

i thought VIII had it spot on, because you were almost immediately introduced to some sort of overworld/world map for your first mission to acquire ifrit in the cave :)

I suspect some companies sent early dispatch e-mails to discourage cancellations as they know Supermarkets may have it cheap. I am sure something similar happened with MW2.

The thing with FFX though was that it still had towns to visit, NPCs to talk to and a huge amount of side quests after you get the airship. I think I clocked like, 150+ hours doing everything (including the dark aeons and maxing all the stats).

Man, the things I did without any achievements in return.

Oh, and my game from the Hut has been dispatched, I'm hoping to see it on monday or tuesday.

I don't see why people are complaining about the first 20 or so hours of FFXIII. Much of the previous games are linear, and yes, while you do get to visit locations and towns on the way, it's all just an illusion as it is still a set path. Besides, seeing as you ill be in Cocoon and eventually making your way down to Pulse, I don't see the problem. It's just storyline and plot purposes, not to mention it eaches you more about the game on the way.

that video posted looks awesome, is this the first final fantasy game available on xbox ?
would i be able to get into this game not having played any of the previous games ?

i just have zero space left on my ps3.....its filled with games from the psn store.
