Hi, My specs are ASRock P55 Pro/i5 750 LGA1156/ATI Radeon Vapour-x HD5770 1GB GDDR5/Corsair XMS2X2GB DD3 1333Mhz., i'm new to this and what i need to know is the cooling i need to overclock, at moment i have just the cooler which came with my Intel
Intel Core i5 750 2.66GHz Socket LGA1156 8MB L3 Cache Retail Boxed Processor, which cooler do i need, any recommendations would be appreciated thanks.

I would suggest this cooler as a good one to start out your overclocking journey with. Its good value, cools well and is easy to fit.

You can spend much more on a cooler, but many of these are designed for the much hotter i7 900 series and the extra prices translate into diminishing returns in terms of cooling performance.

I have just been looking around, the Prolimatech Megahalems is huge and very desirable,i'm just worried about the size. The corsair wc is intersting too http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=WC-002-CS , i've read the reviews there but still undecided. The artic 7 was my first choice initially as cmndr andi said it's cheap too, i have too consider hitman "I fancy boys" (lol) advice to get a better cooler fist off. Reflecting-still undecided!

The arctic 7 is good, but if you want a serious clock something like this would be better:

and a couple of fans ofc

The thing is, i have a feeling that you may buy the cheapy option, then later regret it and go for the better coolers, thereby wasting money. Sometimes its good to buy best first time :) just my two cents anyway
hi, thats good, lol, cmndr andi has Prolimatech Megahalems in his rig and he advicing artic 7.hey i do appreciate it,i have 2 case fans -1 in 1 out, my temp is 38 idle with no overclock, so i'm not sure how artic 7 v Prolimatech Megahalems v corsair H50 would be,sure will appreciate more help on this. where does the fan go on the Prolimatech Megahalems , i been lookin for a pic with the fans on,didn't find any. ya couldn't post a pic of your rig or link me with a pic.i'm also considering i may want to add another ati 5770 to crossfire my graphics, will the prol. mega. leave me room for that

The megahalems is indeed a good cooler and if you are happy to spend the money on one then it is great investment. You will also need a good fan (or two) with high static pressure and if you want to add a second fan then you will need this clip.

The reason I suggested the Arctic 7 was that it is a proven good cooler on Core 2 Quad (95W TDP) CPUs. The i7 920 (130W TDP) like I am using is a much hotter chip and needs a better cooling system to achieve good overclocks. The i5 750 is a (95W TDP) chip, so much cooler than my i7 - hence such a massive cooler is not as crucial. However, if you can afford a £60 cooler for an i5 then it will work very well indeed and you can expect to achieve very high overclocks from it (aim for 4.2GHz) as you will not be limited by heat, but your motherboard.
