*** Heavy Rain - Official Thread ***

I was a bit more disappointed because I heard in reviews it was around 8+ hours long but I swear I only spent 4 or so on it!

That said though, a main character died (well he got dragged away unconscious, had no idea he was dead till the end) which sorta sucked, I guess I missed out on quite a few scenes due to that.

I did quite a few variations of the story and it is, almost certainly, over 8 hours if you play all the scenes. Even in my first run through I only missed one scene and it seemed over 8 hours.

Having said that there does not appear to be any timing mechanism in the game so some people probably perceive the game as longer than it is and vice versa (I doubt anyone actually timed it!!).

Even in a run through where I got everyone killed at the earliest opportunity it seemed longer than 4 hours, but like I said, I didn't physically time it, so could be wrong.

My brother managed to get a copy for me from Blockbuster. might be worth phoning them to reserve a copy for you.

I'm loving it so far and Ive not even left the house yet :D. Cant believe how good the gfx look. I hope the next broken sword game (if they make another) looks like this.

I was in full control of Scott in the clock shop, yet what happened was certainly NOT what was portrayed when I was controlling him. (I'm sure you can can get what I'm getting at)

I've actually just played through that part again and there is a moment where you're not in control of Scott and the camera only focuses on Lauren and the music box ;)

Hehe was going to mention this as I noticed it too when I played through it again. About 20 seconds of her looking at the music box.

This is getting a little spoilerish guys, maybe we should move this discussion to the spoilers thread for the benefit of others? But yes, i was under the impression the music box moment was there for that purpose.

Just finished my second play through, got a much better ending this time :)

Also finished the Taxidermist DLC, what a pointless waste of time that was, for those that didn't get the SE with it bundled dont waste your time downloading it!

Enjoying this so far, just finished playing golf...

Can't wait to reach the end of my first playthrough, can already tell that the replayability will be quality. Are there seperate cutscenes for each "way" you play it (ie who dies, etc), or is it really only the ending which changes?

Nope decisions I'm making differently mid game can lead to different cut scenes and scenes that I saw first time around are missing this time

There is "xx" amount of playable/interactive scenes in the game. The ones you play depend on certain key decisions you make. There is one set of actions you play that makes every single scene play out, and all other playthroughs are just subsets of that.

Similar with the end (non playable/interactive) cut scenes, there are "xx" amount of them and the way you manipulate decisions defines which ones are played back at the end of the game.

The game took me about 13 - 15 hours to complete on my first playthrough. I spent about 4 days with 2 - 2.5 hours sessions on an evening, then hammered it last night to get it done before Final Fantasy 13 arrives and spent 5 hours on it. Don't know why it took me that long compared to others :P

Well that's that, two weeks on and my Special Edition still hasn't arrived. Contacted the retailer and they said they won't have any more come in, but could send me a normal copy instead for the same price. No thanks...refund on its way, and my other pre-orders with them have been cancelled. Utterly useless.

Got enough games to keep me occupied as it is now, so looks like I'll be picking up Heavy Rain when it's a bit cheaper.

finished it last night, very dissapointed, clunky, disjointed, starts off ok, but the novelty quickly wore off. QTE,s, ill never buy a game with those in again:( if it game be described as a game?

Just finished this. Manged to only have 1 of 4 characters die.

I think it was okay. Didn't really see any gaps in the story at all. Maybe some of the outcomes don't explain or show enough.
