Those bright white headlights

I find cars that drive with side lights on, or have faulty lights usually either one completely out which imo is down right dangerous or one shining like a thousands suns and the other about a bright a Wayne Rooney more annoying.

On a side note, what is this current "fad" to go around everywhere with your fog lights on, and why aren't the police doing more to try and stop it?

It's not exactly a new thing, people have been doing it for as long as I can remember.

I have retro fit HIDs in my car and have never been flashed once and passed 2 MOTs

I made sure i fitted them into the correct projector housing(creates a nice clean cut off line) and got them adjusted on an MOT headlight test box.

I have them on my last 2 cars , the ones on the e38 where retro fit and liek most cars it had a manual scroll button in the car for the headlight level , i just made sure they where pointed downwards a little, no issues , and never seemed to annoy people, they was 8000k if i remember correctly. Am getting a kit for the k8 gixxer im soon to be purchasing :D

You did it right. Most people just put HID bulbs in reflector housings which is what causes the problems.

As already said a lot of the time I've noticed it's just badly adjusted standard headlights. This is usually noticable as one light is brighter than the other.

It's the ones that aren't white and some weird shade of blue and seem to have been angled upwards into your face that are annoying.

Is checking headlights are "good" part of the MOT?

Ive noticed that as well, as soon as the dark nights kicked in every prat is running about with fogs on.

My vision is blinded after looking at that poor attempt of a website design.

Are you confusing main beam or fog lights for sidelights? OEM sidelights cause no distraction whatsoever to anybody unless you have some sort of hate for Audi's strip lights or something.

Do Xenons have a 'sharper' edge between areas of light and areas of no light. Annoying as hell when someone with Xenons is following you on a bumpy road, looks as though they are flashing you.

Could be the Halfrauds Specials though.

This is the self levelling thing being completely useless - it simply isn't quick enough to react properly to dips in the road surface. It's main purpose is to counteract morons who would load the car up with junk, weigh it down, and not bother to adjust the headlight angle.

I drive a 13 year old Vauxhall Corsa, it was once red, but now a faded pink colour, I currently have one spare wheel on which has been there for about 2 months. If I was to compare with sexually transmitted diseases I would say it smells like gonorrhea and looks like AIDs.

The last thing it needs is new headlights :p
Changing the tyres might be the first thing though ;)

Van lights are pretty bad, but car OEM car Xenon's are fine.

I beg to differ. Audi's OEM HIDs in particular are annoying because their suspension is so harsh, as the car bounces up and down over every bump and imperfection on our crappy motorways, the beam is bounced in and out of your rear view mirror constantly.

This is made even worse by the fact that the lenses cause a bit of colour separation, meaning that the car's lights in your mirror seem to flash between none, blue, yellow and white.

That's the lens, fitting bright xenons in a standard light can often make dipped beams into a blinding machine.

I really like poly-optic lenses, you get a pin sharp cut off like this:

It means the lights can be bright without dazzling, but they do give the impression of flashing people over speed bumps.

This current fad kicked off in the mid 90's and with the police being too busy sticking film in gatso cameras it goes unpunished.

Xenon's are not a problem per se, but I have particular issue with tall vehicles such as the Range Rover and the Porsche Ugly SUV thing. I used to encounter them at night on deserted unlit motorways and have to pull over to let them past before my retina imploded.

Given the EU's propensity for stupid rules such as dual rear lights on 90s 4x4s you'd have thought some French MEP would have sorted this mess out by now.
