Nice car for someone - 325i

In the last 10 years it has only done 15'000 miles - owner seems suitably eccentric to have looked after it well! My friend in the US has a 1990 one of these in red and it still goes strong. Only gets 17mpg though!

Then it's probably broken, as I used to average about 25 (UK) out of mine and that hardly led a gentle life :p Mine was a manual mind, but then the autos are better geared for motorway work and that's what I tended to do - although on one round trip at constant 60mph, for about 200 miles, I did manage to eek:

:D

Going to need a cambelt that though, that's a nice 250 odd quid bill from a garage.

Do like the two doors though, shame about the big rubber bumpers though.

My more-door:

I'd love an E30 to drop my M50 in, mmmm..

Also, Cambelt? Chain, surely.

No, M20s are belt driven, unfortunately. 60k or 3 years, or thereabouts - bit of a pain to change too but a BMW specialist will usually only charge about £250 to do the job :)

The bigger M30 six from the 5 series of the same era (the 3.0 and 3.5) was chain driven, as were the later M50 sixes :)

I've always liked the idea of one with an M50 in too - seen a few on eBay time to time but wouldn't be hard to recreate yourself - one day maybe :) Make a great toy with the right spec base car as they make a great daily or track toy anyway.....be nice to do away with the cambelt mind!

80's chrome bumper 2 door + M50 + steel wheels + LSD + few tweaks = :D

Ah sorry, I had assumed the M20 was chain, being that the M50 was. My mistake.

Still, I have a real soft spot for the E30s, I think it may have to be done once I have a garage, seeing as I have a perfect M50 sitting in an unused car that is near its end.

What's with all this talk of M50!? M52 or bust. Although I'm personally attracted by the M30 with there being no replacement for displacement, and all that Jazz.

I wish my Touring shell wasn't rotten. I'd love to have had built myself a proper E30 (LSD, M52, leather interior, Billy B8 suspension, etc). Even now I have thoughts about putting it on the road as a comfortable daily, but I have no real use for a daily which is a shame - E30s are awesome!
