Hey guys,

Great site and forum, this is my first post :o
Ive been trying to put together some components for my first build.
I have the CM690 case just now but thats it.
Looked at the i5 bundle but I could do with some help and any advice or suggestions to complete the system i.e. PSU, GPU, HDD (or SDD also?) CD Drive

lets try and keep it below £350 for a PSU, GPU, HDD and Disc Drive of some kind.

Also should I consider a SDD for my OS?

Mainly gonna be used for gaming.

SSD's are good, but depends if you can afford one, I would spend more on your core components and add an SSD later. 5850 is like £20 extra if you can stretch :)

HD5830 is pretty pointless.
Could get a 5850 for a smidgen over your budget - and it is certainly worth it!

Also, whats with the SLI compliant power supply?
Sure if you're speccing him a ATi system, you want a Crossfire compliant power supply?
Could easily run the lot off a 650W decent PSU - saving you a bit more money, and keeping the spec within budget even with the Hd5850 :)

doesn't make any difference just means it has enough 6 pin/8pin leads for 2 graphics cards

yes the 5830 is pointless as cookeh said, so the5850 would be the way to go or one 5770 now and another one later

Thanks Shadowake,

Think i'll go for the 5850 then, im sure i read something about the i5 and dual GPUs, isnt it better to go with 1 good one than 2 in SLi/ Crossfire?

I did point that out :p

As said SLI just means it has some extra connectors, I spec'd that PSU as its a decent high quality one that will last the op a long time, and gives him options in the future if he needs them :)

i7 handles multi gpu's better than i5, but on your budget, I would certainly look to just getting the best single GPU you can stretch to.
