GDC Sony press conference.

^^^^ HAHAHAHAHAHAHA now that is hilarious and pretty much spot on.

Even though it is a Wiimote rip-off, I much prefer the PlayStation Move than Microsoft's Natal, no matter how cool and revolutionary it could be. There are games that would still need to use buttons and something to hold onto for added feeling or weight so I rather prefer this direction instead. Natal may as well be a fancy way of browsing the Internet for my liking. :p

I'd lean towards Natal at this stage. At least it's something new.

same, the ps3 move does looks impressive compared to the wii, but its pretty much the same thing, i dont know how sony expect people to upgrade from a wii to a ps3 at a huge cost for a little improvment. its simply not going to happen.

natal on the other hand is something new and has real potential, i highly doubt it'll be a overnight success like the wii but at least theres more reason to buy it than the ps3 move.

I cannot wait to see what E3 brings as this looks exciting and an added bonus to the PS3, which is going from strength to strength lately.

Eh how's that then?

Don't think either Move or Natal have shown anything worth getting excited about, but as it stands at least move has game support and has been demo'd. As far as I can see Natal has shown nothing apart from kicking/hitting a ball at the screen

Obviously E3 will hopefully change that, but as it stands Natal seems like a fancy eye toy :-/

Exactly, I can't see where people keep getting the idea that Natal is something new and exciting. All it seems to be is a laggy eye toy with some speech recognition.

Id say yeah with Natal it really is much like the PS3 Eye from what I know about it.
I near chocked at the advert showcasing Natal and the driving game with the persons arms out in mid air holding nothing, feeling no resistance and giving zero feedback to the player, wow what a great gaming experience that would be. At least even the wii offered a crap steering wheel.

I dont see how "Natal" competes with "Move"
Also PS3 allows upto 120HZ of motion detection with auto focus and face detection/ voice detection! Does Natal go much beyond this in technical terms? "Move" works to within a single frame so will suffer no lag and the ability with the Eye to be able to create the player within a full 3D virtual space is entirely what makes this different.

Eye Pet I thought was a great example of creating a new type of game and my wee girl loved it. Okay shes 10 but all the famiy has got fun from that game. True to this point few developers have used the PS3 Eye effectively. GT5 was said to offer head tracking from with the car cockpit but I ask well why the heck other developers havnt included such a feature in racing games if its possible.

If anything the developers are as much to blame...

To be honest PS3 Eye is much more advanced than its been given credit for and only with "Move" will the benifits of it become more aparent...

Also isnt this just brillant....

Natal is vastly different to PS Eye, clearly it allows real time skeletal tracking, something the PS Eye can't remotely do, it isn't just a camera by a long shot.

To not think Natal is a serious contender and even more of a possible game changer is being quite short sighted..

Nobody here should be even remotely interested in any of these gimmicky control methods. It's as clear as day that in their current form, they will never compare to playing with a joypad/keyboard + mouse.

On paper yes it is more advanced than the PS Eye, but inreality what does that offer gamers over and above kicking a ball at the blocks?

How exactly?

After thinking long and hard I really can't see where most gamers would prefer to use Natal over a conventional controller. I am also struggling to think of mainly types of games (apart from shovelware) where Natal would work without some form of controller.

TBH I'm not particularly enthusiastic about either, and doubt I will be shelling out to buy them.

I've got my Wii for a bit of golf and some gimicky gaming.

I was reading that Tiger Woods 11 will have Wii and Move support on it but not Natal. It said EA think Natal is perfect for Golf but don't have time to implement it for TW11 or something.

How would golf even work? Whilst not a fan of Wii or Move, it is obvious how their golf would work as you are holding an item in your hand that gets tracked. How would it work with Natal, you just swing your hands in a motion as if you are gripping something, but you aren't?

Same with FPS. Driving games etc, how can they convert/add-on Natal modes where you physically have nothing to hold or press buttons on? maybe this will be the difference? NATAL has totally unique original games for it (as it cannot be integrated into controller based games), whereas Move just add on wand movements to existing titles.

I purchased TW10 last year for the PS3 & Wii, and although I thought the Wii control method was good I just couldn't get on with it due to the poor gfx/sound (lack of atmosphere). Being a golfer I felt it did a pretty good job of replicating the game, but I definately would need something in my hand. Move at least will offer me the best of both worlds (atmosphere & controls)?

Exactly my thoughts, even to the point of FPS games, how can it feel natural when you have nothing of weight in your hands, in addition how do you cover the other functions like walking/running/crouching etc?

Obviously it will depend a lot on the software available for each product, but at present all I see is nothing more than gimmicks that the masses will probably buy into and use them as dust collectors 2-3 months down the line when the software dry's up or the novelty has worn off.

To be honest, nether impress me.

As much as I try to imagine what Natal could be useful for, it's only menu browsing that comes to mind. Who honestly would want to jump around to move stuff on screen? Burnout for example, I doubt it would be physically possible to hold your arms suspended in the air whilst pretending to drive for more than an hour, let alone it actually being fun.

Same with the PS3's wand thing, it looks like a glorified Wii Remote and is just as gimmicky.
