*** Final Fantasy XIII ***

Well most challenging part for me so far was the Vanille and Sazh section fighting the Pulsework soldiers and Bomb combination. I felt the need to concentrate on the bombs first, then use saboteur and synergist... AND THEN dualcaster AND THEN The commando + ravager team lol, Hard work that was. :D

i didn't find the pulse work solider hard, there was never any real chance of dying it just took so ****ing long :p

I died a few times :p

Spoiler

When you activate the powerstation, I noticed there were some unpowered elevators at the beginning of the section, so back tracked. And there were 2 sections, 1 with 2 bombs and 2 pulsework soldiers. And then another where there were 3 pulsework soldiers and 2 bombs. both covering treasure. Both these fights took me several retrys :D When the pulsework soldiers all started plowing ville and sazh, only took 1 punch from each to kill me.

Ooo another tip is use the med/med/sent combo for quick healing, if you are building a break bar you have two options when you need to heal, switch to something like diversity (com/rav/med) and maintain the bar while healing, this is often two slow to heal the damage in time against powerful enemies. Switch to med/med/com to try and hold the bar while healing up (often your com will die) or my fav med/med/sent--

The sentinel will gaurd taking most no damage and begin to heal (if he/she has medigaurd) while he other two blash each other with esunas/cures etc if the beastie attacks it will attack the sentinel and do little harm. After a turn or two you should be able to switch straight back to offence and not lose any stagger power!

I used up all my Deceptimol(sp?) Can these, and other pre-atatck shrouds, be bought anywhere? Bear in mind I am on chapter 6.

Also these Crystarium upgrades confuse me a bit. Some of the roles I max out, and then there is no upgrades available so I just spend the Crystals on other roles, that I don't want. Then later on, after no particular warning I get new upgrade paths. Should I save up the crystals for only the roles I want or just upgrade everything and there will be enough crystals to go around? What triggers the new upgrade paths being available?

Anyone else had it where Hope just refuses to do anything as a medic?

I was fighting a boss with Lightning and Fang on yellow bars and Hope stood there. Had to change paradigm and change back to get him to do something.

Deceptisol isn't the only way to launch a pre-emptive attack. ;)

Go Solid Snake on their asses.

Yeah, but for most battles stealth won't work. I wasted my Decptisol on such battles where I could not stealth, but needed an early stagger to win and now I have none left.

So far I've upgraded what i use the most followed by the others because of the stats that are universal.
Me too, just wondering if this will mean that later on I won't have enough Crystals and will need to grind/farm battles to get the highest ranks.

Just run at the enemy when its not looking! :)

As for upgrades ive wondered this myself, had i saved all the cp i used on ancilliary roles would i now be able to master the main role better?

The answer is clearly NO. Thing is your attributes (STR, MAG, HP etc) all carry over between roles so STR orbs you unlock in one role increase your strength in all roles. So if you dont upgrade at least 3 roles in some kind of balance you will be underpowered against some bosses. Also since your characters switch roles fairly frequently towards the later part of the game there really is no role to neglect!

The sentinel/sabouter/synergist roles are 3 of the most important roles later on you WILL NOT win many battles on pulse using only offensive+med's trust me.

Would I like this game? I love to play RPG's and I've been after a new one for quite a while, however I like simple RPG's, I don't like ones that are to complicated.

I'm not sure how I feel about turn based battles - I hate having to set up every single character differently for a battle. Is FF like this?

I've never played any of the other FF games though so I'm not sure how they work.

Gamer_T.

Nope not turn battles in this per se its very quick and fun :D The story id say can seem abit complex but its good and if you read the datalog in it too makes more sense however the game itself does start slowly and eases you in but once past first couple hours it quicker and well becomes more fun :D

Characters dont have to be set up as you only control one you do however have to change the roles to survive the battles or expect to see game over screen allot

It's very simple.

There is very little inventory swapping, the battle system doesn't feel turn based at all, and the levelling system is simple and intuitive.

I'd say you'd get on well with it.

I'll pick it up - I'm allowing my self £40 to spend on a game before my next pay day so I hope it's good lol.

Cheers

Think i was in a similair fight, could have been the same area, but hope had a red staff debuff ? beside his name which i think stopped him from casting, may have been fog?

*Slight spoilers*

Can someone please tell me when this game gets good? I'm in that ark place (some underground place) and I'm so painfully bored of pressing X, switching to medic paradigm etc. Am I close to Pulse yet?

You're about half way through Chapter 10, ultra_extreme said it opens up in 11. I hope so, it's a good game but I want to explore damn it!

Pulse is near the end game I'm afraid. Think its around chapter 11 or thereabouts.

EDIT
As an aside, I actually walked on ground that wasn't made of steel around 15 hours in. I almost had a religious experience.
