How does this look? (BMW 330cd)

Of those 3 cars I've driven the Audi A4 Cab in 2.4 and 3.0 guise and the 330Ci in Coupe form.

I wasn't impressed with the Audi, perhaps my expectations were too high but it creaked, rattled, the interior didnt wear well and the door bins creaked. Did not feel like the quality product people make them out to be. Furthermore it wasn't particularly quick, nor did it drive brilliantly. Many of them are FWD.

Not tried the 330Ci in Cab form so I've no idea if it rattles - the Z4 does - but the Coupe didnt. Quicker, more involving, just.. better IMHO.

I lol'd a bit at the Saab.

Surprised about your experiences with the Audi - dad had an A4 avant a few years back and it seemed really solid, no rattles, nice and quiet etc - obviously being an estate rather than cab helps but still...

I already know your thoughts on Saabs, although I do like them so it's still a contender...might just buy one to make your head explode with confusion :p

The 3 cars really do the same thing very differently. With the audi it's the image, it's elegant, subtle and classy. The BMW is the best drivers car and the Saab is something a bit different.

With the 3 series, is 15k too much for a good E46 cab?

I was suprised as well, especially as before I got the 530i I looked into an A4 1.8T and whilst it wasnt the car for me it didnt feel particularly cheap. Yet both the A4 cabs did.

Made in different factories maybe?

I suspect the rattles come from the shell being far less rigid - after all, the Z4 is also infested with them - but I was suprised to accidently bash my knees on the door bin when getting in and finding it flexing and squeeking when I did so

I would want an E46 M3 for £15k!! I work friend has a A4 cab not sure on the engine and he loves it. Had it a few years now and can't seem to fault it.

Some cars do suffer pretty bad rattles but like fox says its because they are so less rigid. My sister inlaw complained about her E46 M3 cab rattling all the time.

Photos arent brilliant, so might look better in the flesh. I'm normally quite keen on beige leather too. Might pop in early next week and have a look see - the same dealer's also got a 2005 330ci coupe for 12k too.

Morning all,

Yet again, doin 3 peoples' jobs at work meant I never got around to popping out in my lunch hour to look at those E46s, but onwards.

I came across this little gem though:

Now I do still fancy the cabrio idea, but that looks too nice to pass up. It's a fair bit less than I was thinking of spending, but I'm not dead set on spending my maximum budget if I don't need to. That's also the same dealer that sold me my Alfa and they were superb to deal with.

Also plan on going to look at an A4 cabrio that's just around the corner, it's only a 1.8T so not what I'm after, but will give me an idea of what the car is like.

How does the car above look though?

I was severely tempted - it was a huge revelation. So smooth, so responsive, so balanced and powerful - and for 6k!

It was very tidy indeed, only a few little scratches and a worn out badge on the front. It had a huge wadge of service history, all main dealer and had 4 new michelin tyres. The downsides were it was 4 owners (which isnt too bad given the age) and the engine warning light was on - the dealer told me it had been sitting a while and came on the other day when he started it after it was sitting for a while. He thought it was a coil pack and assured me it would be fixed.

I also looked at another one, a green M sport which was a complete dog. That did teach me that I prefered the M sport wheel and I like the widescreen nav.

So if I can find a 330ci SE with nav, I'd be happy man
