This is a gaming PC for my brother I'm building. Will be a birthday gift but don't want to go over £700 - £750 as I still need a gaming PC myself. I'm waiting till June or so, but I would need to buy this one within this week.

He doesn't overclock, so I will overclock it for him and leave it at that. He will be gaming at 1920 x 1200. Have a look and tell me what you think. I have a hard drive and DVD RW I'm installing so that's not needed.

One question about the MOBO. Do I need to buy him a £120 motherboard or can I go for something a tad cheaper? I only go with that one as I've read overwhelmingly happy experiences with it so I was influenced by reviews.

Lovely motherboard. It has "proper" x8x8x multi-GPU support unlike cheaper boards.

If you reckon he won't be putting in a second 5850, then any of cheaper ASUS or Gigabyte boards will be fine.

I doubt he would unless I recommend it. Possibly down the line, so I suppose this board is good then.

Had a look at the AMD and strongly considered it for a while, as the top offering is cheaper than the i5 750, but most benchmarks I read seems the 750 to be top dog still.

If it's a gaming system you won't notice a difference. And i put some better cooling on it so you can clock it more than enough to make up the difference in other things.
