Just got my may edition of custom pc through the door, and they review the OcUK core i3 upgrade bundle.

They gave it a solid 86%, mentioning the price is keen, components are perfect for the job and a solid warranty.

That's twice in two months they have reviewed and scored well your gear.

Well done ocuk!

Speed got 77%
features got 87%
value got 94%

So it must have been the speed that dragged it down a bit.

77% on speed is reasonable, if they considered it much higher there would be no space for the quad core / x58 chips. I'm quite taken with the i3 chips, need to find an excuse to buy one.

Very amusing by PC format.

Nice to see OCuk getting some good publicity, noticed their score on google shopping has dropped even further though. :(

They choose to by a perticular product and mark it down for speed? Buy a faster one perhaps? The fact that they give the bundle 94% on value suggests that the speed of the system is just right for the money. Or does that only make sense in my world???

The quality of journalism in printed media really does beggar belief.

Anyway, well done OcUK!

As stated above, speed has to be relative to the alternatives. The i3 bundle is not as fast as an i5 or an i7 system, so it would be daft to assign it over 80% for performance. It is excellent value for money if it is fast enough.

Well it's logical in a way, if people want a simple way of comparing the speed of different CPUs/bundles they can look at the different reviews...

I always wondered why the google score is so low for OCUK??? I've been shopping here a good few years and I've never been sent anything that's broken and everything has always arrived exactly to my order, arriving exactly when it should have.

People are much more likely to bother writing a review if they have a bad experience with a company than a good one. Guess it's just a disproportionate amount of people who've been unlucky writing the reviews and not enough people mentioning their good experiences.

+1

OCUK is a large company now, and given the relatively high rate of RMAs with PC equipment this is not suprising. People who have bad experieces tend to get worked up and complain. People with good experiences may recommend to a friend but probably won't bother to review.

I've had to RMA several bits of kit over the years with OCUK, this is not their fault as they cannot test every component that they sell, and the RMAs have always been processed fairly. Hence I am happy to continue shopping here :)

Very true.

hi guys

got my copy today, really happy with the review.

it seems that Custom PC noticed some of the smaller things we do
like choosing a HSF with TIM pre installed to make it easier to install
just one of our little ideas from the pot that im glad didnt go unnoticed.

its a good result and im glad to see the 'Premium Grade' logo slapped on the bundle

the i3 bundle is by far my favourite to clock, every single chip is different and real good fun to clock, plus the motherboards for i3 are so feature rich considering they are mostly mATX

i think the 77% for speed is in place because they reviewed that 6 core monster a few pages before though:D
