Steam sales + WOW will be most of that. How much of it was actual retail or non Steam sales DD I wonder?
Consoles sales were $57B for the same period which puts it into perspective!
pc gaming dwarfs any single console even without adding hardware(graphics cards etc) and accessories.
If that's the case then why are a huge proportion of games developers flocking to consoles?

Piracy mostly?
I think this is a fallcy though, Modern Warfail 2 was actually pirated on Xbox far before PC.

Xbox piracy is a lot more complicated and hassle than simply downloading an ISO and swapping an exe file.
It would be interesting to know rough figures for both but I would imagine the PC version was much more heavily pirated.
I do think the developers will start to look at CD keys tied to Live in the future though.
I still buy boxed copies of games. Looks like other people dont like them boxed though.
PC gaming, as boring as this is getting now, is dead for me.... I have a gaming rig up stairs what cost me a bomb and the thing aint been switched on for well over 3 month now.
Would sell it if it wasn't for how pathetically low the resale value is on components is.
no the difference is that everybody has broadband now that can download any game in a couple of hours
especially as steam is the only drm to actually work

- but I do miss the proper boxes, A4 size and an inch and a half thick, and manuals with which you could club a seal to death.
