Hi,

I have a MSI 5850 & MSI Afterburner installed.

I cant seem to change the voltage, what have i missed?

Thanks

I have the MSI one and you should not need to flash it.

Have you ticked the box to allow voltage control in the Afterburner settings ?

:)

In MSI there is an option to "unlock voltage control and monitoring" make sure both are ticked, you will have to restart. I have my XFX'S flashed with the Asus Bios working fine.

**post above beat me too it :-)

You need to go into settings (button at the bottom) and in the general tab there are tick boxes for the voltage.

EDIT: DAMNATIONS!!!!!!

I found the general tab within the settings but there is no option for voltage???

Only options I have are :

*Synchronize settings for similar graphics processors

*Start with Windows

*Start Minimized

Any ideas? and yes its definitely an MSi.

I didnt think id need to change .ini as Its an MSI card.

I will try when I get back though .

doing this disables 2d clocks....

not sure why you can't modify voltage, maybe try flashing to asus bios then...

Really?

I setup msi with 3 profiles:

profile 1 = 765/1125 Fan = Auto (My Cards defaults)
profile 2 = 825/1150 Fan = 55 (Mild OC)
profile 3 = 850/1200 Fan = 60 (Max tested so far)

Under the Settings\Profiles tab in MSI, I have set 2D profile to profile 1, and 3D profile to profile 3.

When browsing the web etc (desktop work), my card runs at 400/1125 but sometimes jumps up to 765 and then drops back down to 400.
When I load a game it automatically jumps upto profile 3 settings.
When I close the game, the card drops back down to 400 (profile 1) again.

So apart from the odd spike, my 2D clocks appear to be working fine?

maybe they changed it then :) it USED to disable 2D clocks

Well its not perfect, like I say, the 2D clock does jump up and down from 400 - 765 from time to time, but generally stays at 400.
I tried editing the .cfg for the profiles, to set Profile 1 to 400000 instead of 765000, but upon re loading MSI, teh profile shows as Auto/1125/auto rather than 400/1125/auto ? So I cant Force it to 400 Only.

Problem fixed :)

I stupidly had v1.00 installed, a quick upgrade to v1.5 and Im good to go.

So my defaults are:

V: 1087

C: 765

M: 1125

Any tips before I start? ie max V etc

Glad you got it working ooEy :)

I can't help with the volts as my card can't alter teh voltage, mine was clokced with the Default volts...

The basic premiss is to up the core by say 10mhz, then bench test it for artifacts with furmark or gputool, then if it is stable try another 10mhz... keep going this till it show artifacts or crashes/lockups the driver, then try upping the volts a touch... once you are happy with the Core speed, then start upping the memory speed by 10mhz and again, test each time.

See my other post on my testing etc...
