Morons who dislike being overtaken

It only bothers me when people over take me if they slow down at the next corner or roundabout.
I have No problem at all letting faster cars/drivers past me as long as they get out the way.

I dont go over the 30mph speed limits. I occasionally go over the 40mph if the road is clear and it is a dual carriageway. Ill be honest some of the speed limits are ridiculous but thats where judgement comes into play as others have pointed out.
60 roads i see no point in going over unless it is totally clear, and i can see quite a distance down the road.
70 i just stick to the speed limit.

Maybe im just not good at expressing my thoughts, but whatever its a forum. Thank you for that comment janesy.

But, why do you feel going over 40mph is fine, yet going over 60mph is not?

Ask yourself - why do you go over 40 in a 40? Chances are it'll be the same answer to why some of us want to go over 60 in a 60.

Let me make it clear, i dont prevent anyone from overtaking. I just let them and make room for them to do so. Im saying it annoys me and i dont understand why they do it for very little gain.

Found the root cause of your probelms and highlighted it in bold ;)

Had it the odd time, but not particularly often. Haven't had the DC2 long enough to experience overtaking to the max yet on a number of occassions.

Although I did take part in frantic light flashing and horn beeping on one occassion. Coming off a roundabout taking the first exit immediately to the left. As I come around the corner there is traffic coming the opposite way not too far off from the roundabout, when suddenly a golf pulls out. Naturally I let off the accelerator and am a little peeved but am not one to get riled up easily. As he pulls in completing his overtake I ut my foot back on the accelerator when suddenly CLS comes flying out from behind the overtaken car :eek:

Q heavy braking and screaming at the **** whilst flashing my lights (all in a safe manner of course :D).

Because at 60 i feel i can control the car if someone decides to pull out of a junction, it gives me and them time to react etc etc

Yeah i go over 40 on those occasions because i use the road everyday and i feel the speed limit is wrong because i know what the traffic in the area is like and i can see quite a distance down the road as it has no bends.

If im unfamiliar with the road i stick to the limit.

Just because thats as fast as you feel you can safely go, doesn't mean others cannot safely drive faster.

You will not find people here criticising you for such personal limits, so why criticise those whose limits are higher?

Traffic isn't always the same on familiar roads, it can change in a moment - reading the road ahead > knowing the road!

The only time it annoys me is when I'm on my scooter, and I got overtaken, despite keeping up perfectly with the traffic in front of me and driving along at a normal speed, and then the overtaker drops back to exactly the same speed he/she was going before  I don't get peoples mentality. Do they think smaller = a slow annoyance?

Well your reaction times have to be quicker the faster you go and your braking distance also increases. Each car is different but this doesnt vary an absurd amount. Im pretty sure those people, even though they feel they can handle such high speeds are not super human.

I tend to just wait behind them as 9 times out of 10, you can guarantee they will be on your arse wanting to do 40 in the next 30 zone.

so true.

its the "speed kills" adverts/signs that causes this. They think going over 40mph is dangerous so stick to it, even though it means speeding through the next village.

I follow them upto a 30, watch them gain 200-300yards on me, then as the NSL sign comes i speed up only to be blocked again by em :(

Might be something to do with the terrible noise those portable hair dryers make.

Is over 60 really such a high speed?

My judgement, reactions or cars haven't failed me in five years. Like I say, its down to the driver to make a judgement on the speed they can travel at safely.

And I bet the difference between a car with **** brakes and **** tyres, and a car with good brakes and good tyres is enormous.

I have had this quite a few times before, just pathetic idiots who think they own the road.

If there not trying to run you off the road then there beeping and flashing you for overtaking.

Glad your safe and sound mate.
