Can someone tell me the best way to connect the PC to the TV? and what is the best way to work it?

sorry for the lack of knowledge in this field :(

you need a dvi to vga adaptor and a vga cable

or a cable that goes straight from dvi to vga

dvi is the connection on the back of the pc

vga is the small black one that says PC IN on the tv

-actually, does the TV have a DVI connection on the side of it?

Get a DVI to HDMI cable or adapter?

Would have probably been better in another forum rather than GD though ;)

Edit: you don't seem to have a HDMI port on your TV, get a DVI to VGA adapter like mentioned above :)

either get a cable that goes from DVI to HDMI cable (that looks like a hdmi port to the left of the yellow hole)
failing that, a DVI cable with an SVGA adapter (16 pin thing on the right)

I mentioned in the OP that the HDMI ports were at the side ;) along with a USB

the TV is a "Samsung UE32B6000 32-inch Widescreen LED TV Full HD 1080P Ultra Slim"

No links to competitors..

Take a photo of the side of the tv.. is there a DVI slot there already?

A dvi to HDMI cable will do the trick if you have spare HDMI slots

as said before, a DVI (back of PC) to VGA (back of TV) adaptor or cable

You will also want a audio cable for sound....is it called a 3.5 mm jack?, same at both ends...

I have the 46" of the same series.

I use a dvi > vga adapter and a vga cable to the "PC IN", purely because I already had them, it doesnt carry audio though. I had a 2.1 setup specifically for the PC because there is no audio out on the tv except for optical.

The HDMI on the right of your picture that says "DVI" is designed to have a PC conected to it, as it will get its sound from the "PC/DVI aduio in" 3.5mm stereo jack.

So, if you already have vga adaptors and cables, use that, if not then buy a DVI > HDMI adapter and a HDMI cable and use that. Get a male > male 3.5mm audio cable and plug the output from your pc into the PCI/DVI audio in connecter, and away you go

If you want the best quality, keep it all digital and get a DVI to HDMi cable like this or buy a DVI to HDMI adapter, attach it to your graphics card and connect a normal HDMI cable to it.

However, although VGA is analogue - the signal quality should still be good - to the point that you would need to have them side-by-side to tell HDMI from VGA inputs.

That all said, if you need to buy a cable either way it makes more sense to get the DVI-HDMI one.

ok guys i picked up a cheap DVI to VGA and a 3.5mm audio cable

now I have managed to connect the two together and set my source on the tv to PC and this is whats showing'

what do I do now? the TV is just showing my desktop wallpaper and nothing else

thats it working. move your mouse one way or the other and itll appear on it. You wil need to go to your desktop settings to change the config of it etc. It should be monitor 2. You can also drag around the box with the number on it and position in relation to where your primary screen is. Then thats it, your all set, go put some windows on it, or movies, while playing games etc.
