Not much really bothers me on the roads. I've driven so many miles over the years I tend to laugh at the stupidity I see unless it's dangerous.

One thing that always make me let out a disappointed sigh is people who switch their rear wipers on at the first sign of rain. It's not the fact there's not enough rain to warrant its use but how it demonstrates their complete lack of observation. Kind of how people drift from one lane to another without looking or indicating.

Most of the smaller cars like Fiesta's and Corsa's I see in this situation have the wiper dragging itself along the glass hopping and skipping. Not only visible but audible too. How can a driver not notice this?

Yes it's only a small thing and not life threatening but I'm allowed to have one thing that grinds my gears :D

I completely agree.
It shows how little attention they are paying to what's going on around them.

People who drive around with folded mirrors are even worse though.
Seriously, WTF?

Similar to the people who switch on either front or rear wiper, then dont turn them off even when the screen is bone dry. Normally middle age women staring blankly out the window

Hehe I know what you mean, I've seen this many times.

I don't think I've ever used a rear wiper except to clear the screen for reversing purposes on the few cars I have had/driven that actually have one, 5 of my 7 cars thus far have not had a rear wiper anyway, so I forget they are even there when I do drive a car that has one.

What's wrong with switching it on when it rains though? I'm always looking out the rear.

I don't have a rear wiper though:(

Never seen that.

Mine only comes on if I'm in slow moving traffic because thats the only time I'm moving slow enough for it to build up.

It comes on automatically when my front are on and I reverse anyway :)

Got to remember though pokey little hatchbacks such as clios/fiestas etc pick up so much crap on the back screen, always amazes me how quickly they get dirty when its raining and you need to have the poxy rear wiper on constantly to have any chance of seeing behind you.

Nothing at all when it's needed. I'm talking about people who switch is on when a drop of sweat from a fly hits the front window, then it remain on until the ignition is switched off.

I don't even have a rear wiper, don't need it and the rear end looks better without it.
I'm so used to driving vans now that it's no big deal if I can't see out of my rear window.

Very true. I rarely tend to leave the rear wiper going unless I am on the motorway in reavy rain. I usually manually flick it on for one wipe as and when I need to....

I need to use my rear wiper or I won't be able to see anything out of my rear view mirror. Small hatchbacks seem to pick up water and dirt at the rear very easily.

People are missing the point of my post. I'm not saying you shouldn't use them at all.

I look forward to the rain half the time as I have no rear wiper on the car. Constantly having to stop off and clean the rear window on dry sunny days as the dirt and dust sticks to it. Luckily used to driving vans with no rear windows at all so use the wing mirrors most the time, force of habit these days.

Its to do with the shape of the car and how that makes the air act, stuff clings to the rear, all estate cars are the same, my rear window is usually solid dirt in the winter months.

It annoys you when people have their rear wipers on? :D

The back of my car seems to suck up muck like a hoover, and I cant stand dirty windows, so I'm always having to give it a wee squirt and wipe with the wiper.

I watched a police program the other day where a driver was sat in the outside lane with a copper behind him with all the lights and siren's going. This scene carried on for ages before the copper had to under-take and scream blue murder at the bloke, he just seemed oblivious to anything behind him.

You've missed the point, it's people leaving them on constantly even when doing 20MPH+ and the wind ensures no rain is hitting the back screen. It bugs the hell out of me too.
