I don't mind Disk check, I don't mind one off online activation (steam, live etc with offline option). I don't even mind limited activations if it isn't stupidly low, or never gets patched out.
But this always online is the one form of DRM which is completely unnacceptable to me, just too much of a devaluation of the value of the product. I've always sneered at the over-angry internet contingent of PC gaming but should any of these companies care, this is it, my line in the sand on which I won't compromise.
I don't have any pirate games but I'm not prepared to be treated like a potential criminal.
We should big up puplishers like Valve, like THQ, like Capcom, who don't pull this ****. (Plus numerous smaller publishers).
If this conflict eventually means PC gaming becomes mostly indy / independent games, I'll be sad for the loss of the blockbuster games & the technological envelope pushing but I can live with it.
