Settlers 7 Demo available now

I made an account called UBISOFTSUCKSBAL - Ran out of characters. Started the game and I couldn't get past the profile screen. Exited and uninstalled. Remember to uninstall the ubisoft launcher as well.

I had no problems getting the game to work. One weird thing i did not clock at the time, when i made a simple account, i had to give an email ofc but i did not need to verify with an email link. ie you can put any random thing in for the email.

Having never played settlers before and the demo not having an integrated tutorial (i expect the main game will) I got lost very quickly, it has video tutorials which wizz past what you need to do but i was starting to understand the system.

I loved Settlers 1 + Settlers 2 but after that it kind of lost it's charm for me, but even if this game is just as good as the first ones, I will never buy it due to the DRM method they are using.

yeah i am not a fan of the DRM, I kind of expect this will be the norm in a few years time sadly :/ EA are planning to start using the idea too. Maybe i should be stronger and refuse even to play ubisoft demos!

Best settlers game since number 2. Had great fun on the demo today. DRM sucks, but doesnt really effect me as im online 24/7 anyways. Need to find a good price when it comes out now :) dont think i will be paying steam price lol.

This. I think the DRM is barbaric, HOWEVER, I don't game on a laptop, and my PC is always connected to the internet, I very rarely have blips. So it's a buy from me.

If it was any different however, I wouldn't buy it.

Also, has anyone noticed things on the demo generally being blurry? I thought it might be some sort of distance blurring, because it gets better when zooming in, but I've disabled all the options that might do that. Even anti-aliasing, when disabled, gives me jagged-edged blurred buildings.

Can anyone confirm its back like the orginal settlers then or are they still using the same crappy approach as the later ones? I'd be tempted to buy it just for the nostalgia value of playing settlers 1 and 2. Playing split screen with one person using a joystick was good times :D

2 mice on the amiga version ;) Not tried the demo yet, but trailers looks like it uses the path system of setllers 1 and 2, but also the road econemy system more complicated then it needs to be .

i havent played the demo(no intention too either) but maybe check your video cards control panel and check mipmap settings......that usually blurrs things out in the distance if set low.

I'm pretty sure it's supposed to look that way zoomed out, its a cartoony depth of field effect I think.

Anyone found any links to supply chain info ?
The buildings in-game seem to suggest you need a 1:1 ratio of most goods, but I presume the goods will be produced at different rates, so it might be more efficient for instance to use 2 woodcutters per sawmill ?
