Help with New Car

Dont like the driving position, the famous meriva windscreen beam on the right is horrible for vision because it splits, when you lower the seat it feel awful to drive

Forget the long, forget the image, i dont want a car as tall

Well I'm glad you have identified what the problem is so people can now help you :)

I imagine a Fiesta or Clio will be ideal. Don't try and run before you can walk. Everyone has to start somewhere.

Huge?

A BMW 750Li is huge, a Golf is a mid sized hatchback and the same size as others in it's class

lol, indeed.

When i was the OPs age i was driving around in a Ford Galaxy. Parking took a little bit of planning but after a bit of practise you could shoehorn that thing into spaces that impressed all the hot girls you had in the back of the car.

When your 18, impressing girls is much more important than how big/long/tall your car is

This seems to be a common ailment in all Vauxhalls tbh! The pillar in my Astra was exactly where you'd glance at roundabouts :(.

Anyway, hows about....

Fiesta 02-08. Zetec I gather is the spec to go for? Not much between the engines, 1.25 and 1.4 are much the same iirc?

Clio 51 on - 1.4 Dynamique? I had an 04 plate for a while as a hire car, aside from being woefully slow and tiny, it functioned well enough. They look pretty neat, especially the facelifted ones. I'm sure theres a version with some of the 'sport' look bits aswell which should give you some street rep :p.

Seat Ibiza worth a look in, or maybe a Yaris for extra tinyness.

Personally, I'd be looking at mid hatches. Had a 306 dTurbo as my first car and it was great, just the right size dead easy to park and plenty of poke compared to my mates 1.2 corsas and 1.25 fiesta's. 3.5k would get you plenty of Focus/Astra/Civic.
