Hey all, just looking for some different opinions on living own/anyone done it?

Split up with my long-term girlfriend last week so will be looking at finding new accommodation as current place is too big to live here by myself. Had the option of moving back home but discounted that already.

So guy/gals whats it like?

There was a thread very recently about house sharing with a few opinions in from people who have/do currently live alone.

From what I gather the positives include doing whatever you want, when you want, not having to bother about upsetting other people (although neighbors are obviously a concern), you have more space (possibly), you don't have to be careful with what you leave hanging around, you can be as clean or as messy as you like. Negatives, more expensive (?) lonely unless you keep in contact with your friends, could get boring.

It's lonely, especially if you're used to having at least one person around. If it were me, I'd try move back in with the parents - free food, sweet! Fortunately I've not lived alone for a long period of time, I don't think I'd like it much, probably spend as much time as possible out. Oh, you could take up world of warcraft, then you won't even realise/care you're alone.

You can turn up the pron as loud as you like. You'll probably need it too, for all those lonely nights you're inevitably going to have.

From the voice of 3 blissful years of experience, do it. 3 years of me and the cat, 3 years of sitting up will 2am playing games, watching films and relaxing after work. 3 years of "shall I do that...? Umm, nah".

Then I met her. Then she got a key. Now I'm lucky if I get 3 minutes in which to relax, play games, watch a film or catch up with the cat. :(

Aye but I'd bet you'd miss her if she went.

Poor Cat!

She loves it really, besides she still owes me one for that massive steamer she took behind the telly 3 years ago (cat, not Mrs).

I pictured you actually chasing the cat around. :D

It happens from time to time, I chase her then she chases me. Then the Mrs tells us to stop, then the cat has to go out and I have to be quiet again.

Aye but I'd bet you'd miss her if she went.

Maybe, in time. Once I'd stopped chasing the cat about. :D

I have lived on my own since November - I think it sucks balls. Good for a while , but gets boring quickly.

But I have gone from living with 26 people in one room for 6 months to being on my own, but I have no choice... When I am on ship, I will be in a 26 man mess again.
