I was driving along queens drive in Liverpool this morning, just after the Allerton Road junction for anyone local.
The car in front of me was turning left and so slowed down to almost a standstill and turned off, there was an oncoming car waiting to turn right in to the same road, seeing as I was already stopped and there was no one behind me, I flashed him across and then continued on my way.
As I was accelerating back up to 40, a green Subaru Forester came shooting up behind me beeping his horn. He got right up behind my bumper and then pulled out to over take, space was tight, in fact there wasn't space to do it, I got right over to the left and lifted off to let him go by.
Then he cut straight in front of me despite there being no oncoming cars and we are talking centimeters here from my front bumper here! I braked quite hard and beeped my horn.
He didn't like this...he made eye contact with me in his rear view mirror and then did an emergency stop in front of me. I had already put a safe distance between us so I was able to pull up with about 2 car lengths between us. Then he turned around, looked through his back window and started reversing at me at full speed.
I slammed the car in to reverse, but by now another car was approaching me from behind, luckily he had seen what was happening and slammed on, giving me more space to move in to behind.
Then the forester stopped and took off on his way again. I acknowledged the guy behind and moved off again, at the next set of lights he jumped out to see that I was alright and if I had got the guys number plate but in all of the heat of the moment, I didn't.
My first thought was, it must be a stolen car, but I don't think it was, I think this guy was just a total lunatic!
Where on earth do these people come from?
I regret beeping my horn now because I guess he would have just been on his way, but even so, I didn't do anything aggressive or offensive to him, I even checked with the guy behind that I hadn't held him up or done something that I hadn't realised, but no, this guy was just a nutter!
Not an experience I want to have again! Anyone had similar?
