2-4 months off work NO responsibilities - what would YOU do?

I would play "Underworld - Two Months Off" :-D

Seriously though, I would do a bit of travelling (a bit of 10), then a bit of 6 beer/curry. I have a penfriend from Berlin, so I would like to see her and check out some of the massive fairs and 'fests that they have. Location-wise, I have always wanted to go to Hawaii, so money permitting, I would check that out too.

Guy I knew took a year's unpaid leave to buy a house and renovate it. Woman I know took a year's unpaid leave to do a Masters.

Good luck whatever you do.

Well I get summer off Uni so part time job and gymming as much as I can. If I had money then:

Get a DAS license as I always fancied one
Get a helicopter lesson

I'd do this. It's very rare to be able to have that much time free. I'd hate to spend the time at home when there's a whole world out there to see

The only thing that stops me travelling more now is the fact I have to go to work every day.

No work yet money?

Off we go!

Do the house up. Build something awesome. Keep fit at the same time though.

Sorry for the gay sounding answer.

Just gave up work, I think technically its called 'a sabbatical'.

100% economically fine, I could be off for years.

Sick of taking rubbish at work, once or twice in your life you've got to 'jump' without looking over the edge first ..

I did something similar. Firstly - 2 months (even 4) is no time at all. You quickly start to loose track of time in terms of how long things take.

I would:
1. Get fit - getting up regularly in the morning will help prevent you slipping into student time.
2. Eating well will help you get better at whatever you do.
3. Writing a book will take longer than 2-4 months unless you live like a hermit and write a draft that never needs a change.. think 36 months full time on your first book and you may have a better idea.
4. Writing software - an option, you need to disciplined but unless the implementation is easy then you'll be looking at longer than 2-4 months, although you can get an initial stab at it done.
5. Getting the house in shape is a good one it'll lift you spirits and you'll want more people to drop by if you find being by yourself for months on end leave you going cabin crazy.
6. a qualification would be good - it shows new employers that you have drive.

Don't forget the car and other bits need servicing etc. Beer and gaming would be a waste of an opportunity.

All choices 1-11 can be achieved whilst working, (excluding no.10).
You may not get this opportunity again.
I recon go see the world.

I did this in Dec 2008, worst decision of my life so far. So hard to find a job in a recession. Retract your resignation letter quick is my advice!

I took a lot of crap but have learnt my lesson and wish I hadn't left now.

Assuming i'd fulfilled my objectives at work of buying a plot of land in a forest and gaining planning permission, i'd build a house.

A return ticket to NZ or Oz or somewhere equally as full of possibilities. Backpack.

I know a few people who do it quite regularly and i'm more envious of that than anything i will ever be envious of. One day i'll do it. If you waste your time doing anything else then you should just go back to work and not bother taking the time off ;)

I have an interview for a job for 12 months on Tuesday if I get it, I'll saqve every penny for some travelling in NZ/OZ and try to find a perm job out there :p

Sounds amazing! I'm moving down to Lincoln (100 miles away) in July where my GF is at uni. That's about as far-reaching as my plans go for the time being...
