Pulls out

One of two major US-based Nvidia partners has shut down its operations in Europe. It’s BFG that has closed its doors and we heard that some chaps who used to run BFG Europe have moved to Dutch-based Point of View.

Point of View is surely but slowly picking up the market and BGF's part of the market was mainly UK and Ireland, while Point of View has big presence in countries such as France and Spain, and in Scandinavia and Benelux. We are sure that they will want to expand to some other territories, as Point of View wants a piece of the cake in the UK and Ireland.

Nvidia is definitely reducing the number of partners in Europe.

From the Fud

These rumours have been going around for the past few months.

So what does this mean?

No more BFG cards for sale in the uk ?

Or just no RMA support in Europe ponder ponder?

& is amazing Jeff now jobless :(

RMA's may well have to be sent elsewhere now, which would suck for people needing it, and the fact that a lot of people liked them for having a good, speedy, UK RMA service.

But yea, no more cards for europe, unless some company buys them from america and stuff.

Shame really.. Offered great products, offered 10 or lifetime warranty that I bet got abused... I know of, or heard of folks with 8800GT wating for no more stock, RMA and then waiting to get the next best card BFG could supply..

as I say, shame.

yeah a great shame, awesome suppliers, but lacked business sense by offering a warranty that lasts for 10 years time....

Supposedly they get swamped with RMA requests soon after Nvidia make cards EOL. The ten year warranty and Nvidia's gt200 rage quit must have been a nightmare.

its a sad fact of the world we live in today, people will exploit peoples good will gestures, at the peril of BFG in this case....

Wasn't just people exploiting them - for some reason BFG cards drop like flies - worse than any other brand - which is a shame.

Thats blatenty why it was canned I believe. The few spoiling it for the many.

Real shame, as is discorages companies from offering the best possible service - I dont know how big the problem was, but I have heard of people breaking cards for an upgrade.

Theey had a customer for life in me, thats for sure.

Its a weird one coz AFAIK the cards come from the exact same place, build to the same standards, etc. as the rest and just BFG rebadged. Yet they fail for a pass time, I've had to RMA all my BFG cards and 9/10 of the BFG cards I've put in systems I've built for people.

Thats the weird thing, high end cards in particular are generally just reference models with different stickers on them.

ive only ever had one fail, my 9800gx2, and to br honest I did ream the butt off it in persuit of crysis benchies, not that it ever made the difference worth the effort, I run my current card stock and have no desire to OC it.

It's a shame people have to abuse the system. I bought a BFG card because if it DOES go wrong, I can get a replacement. I wasn't EXPECTING an upgrade, nor was I intentionally going to damage my card to get an upgrade. AFAIK, the warranty is still supported, and while I hope my card does die and I get an upgrade, I'd still be happy with a like-for-like replacement card.

I'd also love it if BFG came back and did ATI cards too, but the chances of that are slim to none.

Its not wired, its just too many people took the slash with the warranty and Nvidia left them in the lurch for replacement cards. If you had a 8800GTX die you got something like a GTX285 back that BFG had to pay an overinflated price for.
