Just seen a vantage screenshot showing GTX480 scoreing GPU 20k+ on P setting

Ive also seen one showing it score X9100 GPU score, pretty poor considering my 5870 scores X9300 GPU, overclocked admittedly

has this been posted? Only 8 hours old. they are saying that fud found it out, no idea on truth.

250 W is about right for the 480 design.

The 300 series is a DX 10.1 GPU that has been tweaked. So it is a newer design than the 200 series. Originally Nviidia would have had a full line up of GF300 gpus on 40nm with DX 10.1 and Fermi would have been released in the summer 2010, but Nvidia brought forwards the Fermi time line to Q12010 and scrapped the high end GF300 GPUs.

In the pics above, what is the 3 pin fan header for, if that is what it is for. Also, i guess nvidia have removed the need for a audio connector on the PCB.

9 pages of dribble to find out there's nothing to be said till Friday. I thought on some days I could be pretty sad but you lot make me feel great. :D

Saying that. I've done it so many times over the years here so meh.

Looking forward to see what's a cooking. :p

I still don't know what to do, apparantly the cards are already at revision A3. They've had a rough time with the manufacturing of the gpu's and who knows how reliable these cards are going to be. Maybe just a couple of months down the line they will release new models with more cores.

It's known that they are going to be in very little quantity as well so the prices are going to be terribly overinflated for the initial release.

It's all a shame because I really need a good excuse to upgrade my 280gtx.

The two pin could be for third party heatsink (eg A custom cooler from gigabyte) that uses a two pin fan connector on the standard PCB?

So hopefully it will push the 5870's down in price then?

Surely Crossfire 5870's would beat a single GTX 480?

1 card will always be better than 2. Yes 2 will give more performance but will consume more power and will have driver issues.
Some people like having a powerful system in a tiny small case, and having a small case you wont beable to use crossfire or SLI. So 1 card will be the best option for all.
Also its cheaper having 1 card. If 1 cards give you playable FPS maxed out why do you need 2?
