Fermi NDA end time & on sale UK time

Well whatever the performance is, the price will be the deal clincher at the end of the day. I for one would like to see them competitive in pricing against ATI to start pushing the prices back down to the levels I remember a few years back. £300 for a 5870 is pretty good value and I bought one for this price and don't regret it at all. If fermi pushes ATI on price, people who haven't yet jumped on the bandwagon of dx11 cards should be able to get some rather nice deals!

I doubt the power "issue" will actually put people off buying the 480 anyway as most people who buy a high end rig spend a good amount of money on a quality PSU anyway, most with the mindset of upgrading components later on as well.

Obviously we'll have to see how it all plays out over the weekend where there should be proper review websites giving benchmarks, showing overclockability and comparing drivers etc.

ATI have had 6 months to put effort into drivers and its started to pay off now with the large FPS increases in the recent 10.3 cats + bezel management options for eyefinity customers. If Nvidia bring out a card as fast as the 5870 at launch it could be a pretty good buy anyway due to the fact nvidia might be able to show FPS increases in popular titles similar to the latest catalysts.

Time will tell anyway and I still think people should sit firmly on the fence and weigh up the options properly before resorting to "fanboism"

i can,t wait to get rid of my 5850's when they do come out,i only got them till nvidia brought theres out as i was doing a new build and at the time there was no news as to when they would be out.,not bothered if ati wins i just prefer nvidia drivers.

You're going to replace 2 cards with a single card that will perform worse and probably cost more?

This is the reason people make fun of nVidia fans.

lol!

Your maths be wrong... 19 + 5 = 24 ;)

So NDA lifts at midnight matey... based on that.

lol!

Your daylight saving knowledge be cocked... GMT - 4.00 = EST ;)

Between 14th and 28th March there is only 4 hours difference (and 31st Oct to 7th Nov).

I only picked up on it because I travel to Atlanta, Georgia on a regular basis to visit family.

I wonder if any sites will start selling the cards at 11pm on Friday night.

EDIT: Actually EST is still GMT - 5.00, most of the eastern yanks are currently using EDT (their equivalent of BST) which is GMT - 4.00.

Soooo you may be right and it will be midnight here in the UK :)

Quite possibly this one... I seem to vaguely remember odd timed NDAed products going on sale at random times up on the website in the middle of the night... hehe

I have excuse... about to go to bed, lol... been up since yesterday... :P

talking with a buddy of mine who works for a Supplier of OCUK and deals with ASUS and Palit cards.

He tells me that even they have no Prices on the cards as yet, they have placed a huge order for the range (SAID SUPPLIER, NOT OCUK) they *were* due in Friday, and was able to work on Prices after 18:00 on Friday.
Now, he tells me they are not going to land and the prices are still not avail.

BUT, to me, anyone buying stock must know how much they are paying?

and require more wattage to run it.

Seriously why are you swapping two cards for a single card which looks like it'll perform much worse. that doesn't make sence!

Sounds a lot like "We'll see how many we get in and price gouge accordingly" to me. Shame everyone will blame Nvidia for it even if they do set a competetive RRP.
