Super Special Southern Meet of Ultimate Win (Hampshire Mini Meet) IV

Both of my headlights have suddenly chosen now to completely steam up, something they have never, ever done before

I cant even have a look at the problem because it just will NOT stop raining :(

...and to add to the BMW reliability index I have discovered a minor ATF leak from the inlet hose of my power steering reservoir bottle, well I assume it's the inlet as I don't see how it could have leaked if it was the outlet, I think I can fix it though ...tis very minor but it's certainly there, just where the hose meets the nozzle on the bottom of the bottle, I can loosen it off and tighten it all up again anyway and hopefully that will fix it. I better keep a bottle of DXIII in the boot anyway :p

I could do with replacing my n/s front indicator lens as it's cracked (and thus filled with condensation). I could also do with new side repeaters as they are going yellow.

I was also hoping that my orbital polisher would have arrived today so i could give the car a once over tonight, alas not yet.

:(

Funny thing is, since I bought this car I have started carrying all sorts of things I never previously did, spare fluids of various kinds, WD40, White Lithium Grease, tools, tow rope, duct tape ...etc. I have full UK breakdown cover though! ...still I feel better having all this junk with me.

Sounds like the 'emergency' box I have in the boot of my Fiesta ;)

Perhaps because I never previously expected my cars to break down or anything to fall off, this one ...well frankly I do, I spend half my driving time analysing every little sound and then I've got the bonnet up every other day and I'm listening to this, poking that etc. This car has moods, the only other car I have ever had that's had 'moods' was my Fiesta MK3, my first car.

Spare fluids, grease and duct tape...

I'm worried :eek::p

You and every other E39 and E46 driver on the planet :p

My E46 didn't, I shouldn't have let that car go, it'd actually be worth more now looking at current market prices than when I sold it. That E46 was really good, everything worked, it didn't obviously leak anything so far as I could tell or make any noises it shouldn't. And it was one of the most highly specced ones you'll find.

Mine never had a minor leak, it just split completely and made a mess :(

That was a few £hundred to repair :p

What just to replace the hose and the fluid ?

...I could have a new steering box off BMW fitted for the grand sum of £2500 (actually it was slightly more but I forgot the exact figure) ...that has a leak too although that is very minor.

No, mine needed the pump too, as I ran it bone dry (had to, was in the middle of nowhere when it went, and didn't realise it was gone until I got into town and noticed the lack of PAS).

This is another fail for me. Sorry. Perhaps a later summer and you will all have the pleasure of my company.

I'm a fair weather driver, and this weekend, by all accounts, is going to be far from fair!
