Corsa VXR *facepalm*

Courtenay all the way

Totally :D

I must admit that I'm in love with you. Not only do you have a car that wasn't purchased because it looks cute with nice cupholders, but you have found the internet, got onto an overclocking pc parts forum, and can even highlight quoted post, edit them for the truth and change colour.

You can come for a ride in my DC2 anyday....... When it isn't in bits

:D:D:D

You can get a brand new Corsa SRI 1.6T for 8.5k?!

The list price of a Corsa SRI 1.4 is £15,030.00 with no options and non metallic paint.

He could have course saved around 4k and bought a used VXR although 14.5k isn't a bad price when you consider the saving on list price.

No it'd be 07/57 reg and have 5 doors :o but I guess it's all about making sleepers isn't it? :p

And who'd want the 1.4 it's about as quick as last generations 1.2 cars...

The 1.6t SRi was a sweetspot. Shame it got discontinued.

But at the end of the day I think the Astra VXR has the best exhaust note and they are slowly becoming available for 10k used now...

This is such a classic OCUK reaction thread, it should be stickied, it's far easier to cut and paste the standard responses if you can find them all in one thread..

So far..

1. A person buying a 200BHP Hot Hatch is defined as lacking aspiration..
2. A Corsa VXR is deemed to be woefully bad in just about every way, despite glowing testimonies from people that have been in one with a BTCC driver.
3. People still like to think that cars like this and a Clio 182 are so different in terms of performance that clearly under all circumstances the 182 would leave the other car for dead, absolutely no question. I swear these people need locking up as it's that type of ****-sure ignorance that will have them in them in the nearest hedge when they realise that their own talent is exponentially less then the cars..
4. Someone's hacked Fox's account and is posting mature thoughtful stuff (Hi to Fox's dad, perhaps you can post more often for him!) ;)

:) at least it gets a chuckle from me..

Sure it might be a good price for the car, but do you really think £14.5k for a Corsa is good value for money?

I think the question is..

Is £14.5K for a brand new 200BHP car that does sub 7 second 0-60 and 140ish flat out good value for money?

Otherwise, I can make up lots of similar questions such as

Is £50K for a 3 Series BMW good value for money? (Thinking of an M3)..

The fact it's a corsa is almost irrelevant, it's a hot hatch for £14.5K...

I see your point. Buying brand new rarely is "good value for money", but at least with the M3 i'd have something utterly brilliant, whereas with the Corsa, i'd have...well...a Corsa.

when does buying BRAND NEW ever make sense?

yet someone has to buy brand new. some value the newness and full warranty etc...?

Buying a brand new M3 makes even less sense.

To lose the same money you'd have lost in 2 years on a brand new M3 in 2 years in this Corsa VXR, you'd need to buy it, not bother to insure it, set fire to it, *and* cause an additional £6000 of damage to something.

And if you tke the Astra VXR kit off... its an Astra

And arguably the basic Corsa is more 'fit for purpose' (ie its relative merits compard to the competition) than the basic Astra...

Exactly, the Astra is a good car that is in the same league as the Focus, the Civic, the Corolla/Auris and so on.
The Corsa is a crapbox on wheels, much like the Micra, the Yaris etc.

I don't like the M3, it's basically a 320 SE with M stick on tat.

The RS Clio is rubbish because it was a Clio.

Any more ignorance we'd like to add?
