I recently came across a motherboard I believe that allows you to run nvidia sli and ati crossfire at the same time, I cannot remember which one it is anymore. I'm looking for one around £200-250. Is this true about running both crossfire and sli at the same time what kind of psu would I be looking for 2000 watt perhaps? I think overclockers only has one type because none of the other motherboard descriptions made it clear if they did. If you guys know any, please post them.

Thanks

Also would a case such as this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-002-TR be able to fit that many cards in?

are you thinking of the boards with that chip that allows nvidia and ati cards to run together in some sort of sli/crossfire bastardisation? the same chip that suddenly disappeared off the face of the earth?

...i cant remember the name of it grr

anyway, what do you actually want to do with it?

Not sure about sli and crossfire at the same time, but I believe MSI do boards with something called a Lucid chip that allows different cards from both camps to work together.

A more modest 650w psu will do.

Just have a powerful pc hahaha. Honestly it was just there on the motherboards section I swear I was NOT dreaming.

Seriously for 3+ graphics cards?

ahhhh. the MSI big bang fuzion. a snip at £276 and given a glowing review with a 3/10 score from bit-tech...

i didnt realise they finally got released!

depends what cards you want. I cant see it being any more powerful by mix and matching though. if you want the fastest gaming pc around, just get two gtx 480's and be done with it. You'll need a much heftier psu for those though, 800w minimum given the hardware that's likely to be paired with them.

No for two.

If it is the lucid chip thing we are talking about, then I believe the reviews weren't to good.

Better to just get a sli or crossfire motherboard, and not yet to mix and match using it.

So having two of the same cards work better than 2 different card brands but near same power?

given that the two cards would be identical technologies yes, it would be much quicker and more efficient. have a read of the review on the fuzion, it goes in to detail why it's hard to get two different technologies working together http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/motherboards/2010/01/08/msi-big-bang-fusion-lucid-hydra-arrives/1

...which probably explains why the fuzion is the only lucid board in existence (afaik!)
