Kit Car Discussion

Done. How is/was it to build/drive? Looks great though.

May i inquire as to what the 'sticker' is on the left, under the Westfield tag?

Build:- Suprisingly easy and straight forward BUT I made it harder on myself by deciding to do a bit of engine work and conbverting to throttle bodies and Megasquirt. Half of me think I should have stuck with the stock injection to reduce build time but then again I'm glad it had the throttle bodies from the day it went on the road.

Drive:- In a word awesome. 0-60 in 4.9s, 1/4 mile 13.2s, I haven't found it's limit on the road yet BUT I don't drive that fast - the car is certainly a lot more capable than I am. Despite the excellent handling, I'm also amazed by how comfy it is. Once your in the seat, it's road manners are smooth with no jarring, rattling or bouncing. I drove to London in it (300 miles) non stop and I could have done another 300 miles more.

Sticker - it says "Pinto inside" in a parody of the Intel inside logo :-)

DaveyD - awesome looking car you have there :-)

Looks interesting, quite short. Anything it has over anything else we've been discussing? If not, then no :p

The main difference is the Quadra has 4WD, but to be honest I think it misses the point of a 7. Dax cars tend to be very well engineered and built, but you pay very dearly for it.

This is my MNR VortX. it has a 2006 R1 engine. started building Oct 2007. Finished, registered, and on the road May 2009 :D

I beg to differ. When was the last time you flew upside down in a helicopter? That's right...

Both are very interesting though. Can't help feeling though that on the price front it's a 'if you have to ask, you can't afford it' sort of deal.

I have all ways wanted to design and build my own car but I have no money nor the machinery thats the only thing stopping me from doing so :(.

What machinery do you actually need? To design it i can understand but from kit most of it should be easily available... more expensive stuff i'm sure you could rent for a day when you need it.

Sorry i dont realy mean from kit I would use a Vtec engine then nearly every thing else design and build it from the ground up.

I would not leave the engine standerd so i would need all machinery eg

lathe
mill
reboreing machine
line borer etc etc.

plus lathe/mill would be used to make parts for chassis etc.

I would not make it road legal theres just to many things to restrict you I would make a track car :).
