Hi all,

Looking at these 2 for the daughter to use for school work.

MSI U230 or Acer Aspire Ferrari 200.

Any thoughts would be appreciated

Cheers

*edit* or anything better in the 11"-12" inch screen upto 400 pound area.

hey :) I have just bought the U230, from the argos clearance store on ebay for £245. its "Refurbished". Came today, and looks brand new, not a mark on it.

Now for the laptop, I have it in white, and theres no other option if you ask me. It looks soooo good. It comes with win7 premium, and i dont really notice the difference between it, and my PC (specs in sig). I cant speak for the acer, but the U230 is stunning, powerful, and really light. The standard battery life isnt bad either, at over 4 hours on eco.

hope this helps, let me know which one you decide.

p.s the u230 dual core, or single AMD neo?

I've had the Acer Ferrari One for a couple of weeks and think it's excellent. If you can get over the garish design (I actually love it) it's a great little machine. Build quality and finish is excellent, very nippy and feels much more laptop like than netbook in use if that makes any sense. I would say only downside is it does seem to run quite hot and the fan is on a lot although not that noisy and battery life could be better. I paid £305 for it refurbished.

I use it so much I'm hardly on the desktop anymore so that's a good indicator for me..

Just re-reading your post though are you sure a netbook form is what you want ? Unless you need the ultraportability wouldn't a normal laptop be a better bet >

As a brand I would choose MSI over Acer everytime. Acer have got better in recent years, but they are the Primark of the computer world IMO.

Needs to be a Large type netbook, Laptop is too big for her to cart about all day.
11,12 or maybe 13 inch screens.
These two seem the best though I may have a look at the Lenovo S12 as it has been recommended.
