its been a long day at work. the thoughts of getting outside with my camera for the last few hours of light have been dashed by rain.

i decided to tour the house with my 50mm f1.8 looking for interesting objects, textures etc - kept me occupied for a while and satisfied my addiction for taking pictures - got a few surprisingly nice results too.

looking for inspiration for my next rainy day - what rainy day projects are you currently doing?

Erm, go out and shoot in the rain. :)

Heck, I don't have any rainy day projects, I just go out anyways, therefore I'll watch this thread closely...

shoot in the rain? in a downpour? how? umbrella? lots of questions lol
a little drizzle doesnt bother me but in a full on downpour theres no way im going out!

Yeah, so long as there's not enough to worry about getting stuck in fields. Just put a waterproof on- stick to one lens, waterproof cover on bag, keep everything exosed to rain at a minimum, only the camera and lens in the rain. If the lens has no rubber gasket then you can pop one of those little rings over lens and camera mount (forget the technical name) - worked fine so far. I've used a Rain coat on the camera once too. I don't think it's worth it unless the rain gets bad enough your thinking about heading in yourself!! I'm more worried about sand/dust than the water. Oh and hang the camera on the inside of your waterproof when not in use.

Tomorrow, Belfast Lough, High tide 3.7m @ 11.45am, rain, 30mph wind, me and my 450d and hopefully some stormy sea conditions = my rainy day project :D Wether it goes to plan or not is another story!!

Hat off to you mate. It's nice to see people embrace the less favourable weather for photo opportunities. Have seen some really nice heavy rain shots recently. :)

Was out last night, freezing cold, rain / snow for the football.............survived first half and gave up. no lens hood meant the front got wet / wiped to form a blur so getting anything usable was hopeless. I'm sure i would have lost a finger or two if i was out for any longer depsite having gloves! Freezing on the coast!

Well, as i mentioned above, things don't always goto plan and today they didn't. My planned outing for a rainy day project was cut short due to some unforseen family issues and instead of rain this morning it was snow. I did get out for an hour or so before i got a phonecall that required me to go home again. During that time there was only a couple of very light sleet showers and i ended up having more problems avoiding waves and seaspray and spent a lot of time wiping water from the lens and camera body. However, the weather forecast was correct on one thing - the wind, and Belfast Lough was nice and choppy so i did get some shots and it wasn't a completely wasted day. Spent the rest of my afternoon playing with the images in photoshop and lightroom and finished with a small set of pictures with differing styles -

Same here plus other Lego. I've got a load of new things to photograph and I want to re-do many of my original ones.

We are on a different type of shooting! the MFR... does she get used in the rain? My Mk2 gave up on me... having her serviced this week... Just landed myself a nice Wolf MTC:)

Rainy Day - Ebay listings, that about all my cam is used for.

Oh yes as long as I'm prepared to go. This is me at Ford Ranges early last year (along with Pete, my spare head). I equalled my personal best that day and shot like a wazzock at every comp after that. The MFR went back to Ben Taylor for a service and update last summer and is even sweeter to shoot now.

We had a secondhand Wolf MCT in stock recently but it didn't stay for long, especially as they're FAC only now.

I keep getting the two the wrong way round. We ordered a 12ftlb MCT for one customer and had a secondhand 12ftlb MVT briefly. Having played with the 12ftlb MVT we realised why they're now FAC only......
