Does anyone know it OcUK are going to stock the EVGA GeForce GTX 480 Hydro Copper ***, if so at what price.

I know that I can get a standard card and fit a cooler myself and save about £150-200 in the process. If I go that route then I'll void the warranty and there is no guarantee the card will OC as well. I currently have a BFG 280 H2O and think that it's time for a new card.

And how are you going to save that much money in the process? It will cost an extra £100 odd or something silly any way, won't be that much overclocked as well.

Why not be sensible and buy 2x 5850s or a 5970? Better performance for less money.

This.

I'm resisting a move to ATI as I've always stuck with NVIDIA in the past. I'm hoping that mature drivers will pull th e480 out of the hole it's stuck in. Looking at the price of the 5850 I think you might be right, 2 of them with a couple of waterblocks will most likely be the same price as the Hydro Copper

saying that I m guessing a HD5850 overclocked to the max would beat a GTX480 ? and run cooler and take less power :p

Sad I know but I'm looking at either that or the 470 version too, I suspect they will be expensive, i.e. over £500.00 for the 480 verson and about £400.00 for the 470.

What's the point? You obviously aren't doing it for the performance.

I'm no fanboy trust me but they are the fastest single gpu card out there, every website I have read seems to concur that performance is on average 10-20% better than the 5870 (this isnt a flame I'm just quoting what some respectable sites have said)

The hydro copper boards are also binned chips up from 700 -750 on the core (1500 on the pixel clock) and ram is slightly up to 3800mhz.

Anyway I've just checked out evga and they will only be sold via the website at first, which means no shipping to europe me thinks.

And the price is 650 bucks for the 480 version, which means if it ever comes over here your talking 600 squid at least I guess, ouch, maybe i'll pick up the power color 5870 wc afterall......

So you ARE looking for the best performance? You'll need a 5870 with an overclock then.

Don't rock the ATI applecart what ever you do !

It's go absolutely nothing to do with that.

You've got the nVidia boys raging about how this is the best GPU ever, fastest and what ever else, when it really isn't.

You can get more performance out of an overclocked 5850 and 5870 when you overclock them, ultimately a 480 can't overclock enough to make this untrue.

It's utterly bizarre that this way of thinking works with CPUs but doesn't work with graphics cards, and people are claiming I'm the fanboy?

What happened to all the "get a Q6600 and overclock it, they all overclock to silly speeds".

The Q6600s overclocked generally higher than most other chips and gave more performance, so they were therefore the higher performing chips.

Far too many trolls......

whatever happened to a rational discussion based on the op.

Giving an opinion isn't called trolling, you do understand how conversations work don't you? You are allowed to branch out in to other things

Just because the OP asked a specific question doesn't mean people aren't allowed to answer it in the way they feel makes more sense.
