Attention E46 owners..

People who like things different from the mundane norm. People who like to push things and try different things. To prove that things can be done.

I like things to sound nice also, thats why replcaing the standard BM system is a must. The sound quality it ships with is ****, you cant deny that. Even the HK (which I thought would be better) is poor quality.

How is installing software that other people wrote and hardware that someone else designed pushing things?

"Push" things? What things? Why do I need any of that junk? I could prove that it is possible to rape someone and get away with it, doesn't mean it should be done.

As for the sound quality, ever heard of an amp and speakers? The issue isn't the BMW headunit as a sound source.

Think you need to get laid mate, why you talking about raping people. Weird :confused::confused:

Yeah I know, just a little touchy as I'm watching arsenal get taught a lesson, lol. My original op was just trying to shed a different light on things. I didn't think it would leave me open to a torrent of critisism :p

What is this "original op" of which you speak? :p

On topic, I'd quite like to see your install once it was finished big ray t. Maybe a thread with full details? it could be quite interesting if it is, as you say, a carpc done well.

Didn't mean to write original. By 'op' I was meaning my original post. It is no longer in my car mate so no new photos. I will try and look out some photos I took when it was finished. If not, I will send you a link to mp3car.com where I documented every stage of the way. Have a look at the site anyhow, it is full of 'strange' people like me who enjoy carpc's

Who was it that stuck half a laptop in their boot? They certainly didn't deserve the grief they got.
Although having said that, covering up the vents with the screen looked horrific :o

Wouldn't mind Post Code search ;)

You mean 7-digit search, as I have 4-5 digit search (4 if the first portion is 3 characters long, 5 if the first portion is 4-long).

I was saying this on IRC earlier. There have only been a couple of occasions that it would have been useful. If you know the road name, and either the house number, or the nearest intersection then it's not an issue anyway, as 5 digits + house number is typically enough.

I disagree on this, I think full post code search is the biggest let down of OEM Sat Navs. A lot of the time, people give their house number and postcode and you have to either ring/email back and get full road name or get on google maps.

I'm not saying the current system is wholly inadequate, just that for the sake of a few more pounds licensing on an already expensive option, could be made much more convenient.

Agree there, i HATE the fact that OEM systems dont have it. I still use an OEM system though for the reason that i wont have anything else in the car due to the aesthetics and non oem functionality of it it.

I really wish the manufacturers would just do a tie-in with some of the aftermarket nav manufacturers. The functionality of, say, TomTom is leagues ahead of most of the inbuilt navigation systems. Full postcode search, IQ routes, etc etc. It's just better.

Yet looks completely **** stuck to your windscreen. Sigh.

Renault are currently advertising tomtom in their television adverts. Have they done just this, or are they simply giving away a free tomtom to purchasers?
