Vapor x 5870

Been testing mine all night, not once gone over 55c whilst gaming, very silent, plays anything very well and fits fine in my case.(antec 902).

I am still working out what settings to use in catalyst control panel for best image quaity in games.:p

That’s a good card for a slightly better price then being sold elsewhere. I paid this for one about a month ago before the prices all went up….

Runs very silent compared to other GPU’s and I’ve never seen mine go past 65 degrees in furmark stress testing 8 x AA 1920 x 1080.

Overall, excellent card and seems whilst on offer better value. Still too expensive mind, even though you do get a full copy of Steam Dirt 2….

Dunno why I purchased one, normally I’d never buy a GPU past £200, guess when someone else is paying the bill for you, well you go for more expensive. But I can see why this puppy is expensive – its just soooo bloody quick..!! lol

Buy one, load up Dirt 2, and hold onto your hat – its 60fps 1920 x 1080 driving from then onwards. Amazing graphics as well… Isn’t all that picky with CPU either, I kid not. I tried it on a E6600 clocked at 3.0ghz, and I still got 60fps 1920 x 1080 4x AA as I do with the card on my i5 system in my sig… Bloody impressive bit of kit TBH.

Tecman, do me a favour,..... your Vapor-X, what manufacture code is on the box, and is it version 1 or 2 ?, and the PCB board colour.

looking for a version one of the board, black pcb and upright power sockets

cheers :)

:p just replied in a thread of yours.. Mine is blue (well blue ish), Mfr#: 11161-03-50R. Power sockets on the back... Bloody annoying TBH, made it a right PITA to fit into my case with the HDD cage..

Still a stonking bit of kit mind..

Can anyone with the second revision (blue circuit board & power plugs on end) let me know what the noise is like at idle?

I've seen a review where it showed that the v2 load noise is even better than the v1 due to running the fan slower and GPU a little hotter (still good temps though) but the idle is now 0.8 sones versus 0.4 of the v1. I have a quiet rig so the idle is as bit of a concern as I believe the standard cooler is 0.5 sones at idle.

my primary idles @ 47c fan @ 28%
secondary idles @ <40c fan @ 20%
and i cant hear them
when turning the fan up manually i start to hear it ~42-43%, by 60% its very noticable 75% and over seems very loud but thats in a room with no noise, playing a game you probly wouldnt think it was so bad

Thanks for the info. :)

Are these temps with single or dual monitors?

single m8, also there 3mm appart in a FD r2 case which isnt the best at cooling :(
if uve got a gaming type case they should idle a fair bit less and work at load with lower gpu fan %
