Just got my VAT invoice through... £60. Not bad. No customs duty though

Did everyone get the UK charger by default? When my phone turned up last week I wasn't expecting it.

Google adds it to the checkout for you when you tell them you're from the UK - its an absolute rip off and most people remove it and get one off Amazon for less. I assume it was separate not in the box?

Ah right. I just assumed it was standard. Yeah, came in the big box but not in the phone box.

Has anyone gone from a Magic/G1 to the Nexus? What did you think? Worth the upgrade?

I've done exactly that. The difference is amazing.... Speed, the screen, 2.1. That's just 3 small things. Got my G1 back repaired the other day and it's like going back a year in time.

Definitely do it I say.

Done just that. The nexus cost a lot of wonga but I think on the whole it has been worth it, if you're a 'phone enthusiast' so to speak and the improved speed/features will really make a difference to you.

In the end, I wish I'd held off upgrading to the Magic in summer last year and waited for the second gen Android stuff to turn up, because the early stuff like the G1, Magic and Hero was a bit underspecified.

Just flashed the Desire ROM to mine...really rather pretty isn't it? A little slow though, I wonder if the extra RAM on the Desire is there for a reason.

Nothing wrong with embracing new technology when it comes out. I'm glad I've spent thousands upon thousands over the years to have the latest tech. Though saying that, I don't tend to be so ready to spend my cash like that nowadays, though I shall be getting a Desire/Nexus to replace my Magic one I've bought a new sofa.

I thought 15 and 16 were slow as... but 17, which is built of the shipping desire rom seems speedy enough.... I'm using the oc and uv kernel with it too, with custom setcpu profiles, which may be why I think its fast and you don't

if you force the base speed up to 576mhz instead of 200 its speedy enough

Ah Ok, I see. Lots of power saving going on there then, I guess it needs it with a 1GHz processor! Might do a bit of overclocking but I am a tad worried about it given it's a phone, lol.

It's a bit laggy scrolling through the menu and when opening certain things, but in other places it's fast as fudge.

Yeah but to cancel it out a have a standby profile that doesn't go about ~250MHz
The kernels have been around for a month or so and I've been using them since the get go and never had any issues

Does anybody know if the full release version of the desire rom has been launched yet?

The ROM now uses the shipping Desire build from 17 onwards iirc. Still in alpha tho

Lol, I know what you mean. They announced it in January! My guess is that they've been heavily branding it for 3 months solid (we know how vodafone love branding) and that it will be totally unrecognisable once released.
