The Best Hot Hatch Ever

I've owned a few hot hatches and my fave was my Nissan Pulsar GTiR, stuck to the road like glue and the power was amazing. Looked great with a few modifications too.

Are you serious? Whilst it is a good car when modified, 4WD takes it out of the usual Hot hatch category imo.

They are also ugly as sin.

To be fair, Hot Hatches are a very personal thing...

I looked at your suggestion of a Ford Focus ST there and went "Eh?". Far too heavy and "modern" to mix it with some of the classic stuff on that list, but that's my personal opinion, although I'm sure you think completely differently.

I will be very interested in seeing the results though. The R5GTT VS 205 GTI debate is a hot topic at work, I'm hoping this will help settle it :D.

Well I just looked at the list and the GTI-R is there, 4WD is counted :p

They needed changing a bit to look better. I bought mine looking like this:

Ended up like this (not to everyones tastes)

Sorry, I just don't see them as good looking cars.

Joshy, my idea of a hot hatch is a fast(ish) car that is fun to drive (LOOS please) whilst being practical at the same time, after all, the idea of a practical "sports" car for the masses is what gave birth to the hot hatch.

There isn't much that does all of that as a package better than the ST, especially when you include comfort as a factor of practicality.

I spy renault laguna splitter:p

I quite liked the Pulsar's, shame they were so unreliable.

Yeah and running costs

And it's a Laguna splitter yeah :D

I find modern cars hard to compare to old hot hatches due to the sheer size of them, the ST for example is just massive for a hatchback. My in laws have a 308, again I can't believe how big hatchbacks are nowadays.

lol must have been a while ago then?

were they unreliable? i thought they used skyline engines which i thought were reliable?

Couple of years ago, i presume it was an imported jobby I got off ebay.

After I sold it it did actually break down, can't remember the exact problem but it was expensive. If you were to buy one now it probably would have to have a rebuilt engine of some kind..most of them are just dogs out there now. Shame really.

why did it think skylines were 2 litres then? sighh

apparently wiki says its a sr20det also in silvias and bluebirds etc
