HTC Hero, coming July on Orange and T-Mobile, makes me want!

I think we will see a lot more interesting app's arrive over the next year or so, both from individual developers and businesses. What I'm hoping for is that all the companies that have released iPhone apps, such as Natwest, also release for Android.

It will also help if Google do some work on the market, because it badly needs it!

I wholeheartedly agree with you there. The Market is so badly designed it's unreal. Although it carries out its basic functions quite well, it seems that finding apps is a real chore unless you know the name of it.

What they need to implement is a system like Apple's where they recommend hot apps, upcoming apps, and have a top x amount of apps for a certain time period. I'd like to see whats new and people are downloading, and all I get are the crappy apps which have probably been around for donkeys years that sit at the top of the most popular list because they're probably so old.

Oh, and charging in foreign currencies is a big no-no. What's the point saying it's going to cost me $0.99 when the bank will hit me with a little extra for the foreign transaction?

Apps that I've currently got on my Hero are:
Dolphin Browser
Twidroid
AG Newspapers
NewsRob
ChompSMS
LastFM
ShopSavvy
Fring
Mileage
NetSentry
Opera Mini
LastPass
London City Tube
Note Everything
My Tracks
Games
Air Control
Replica Island
Texas Holdem

Can anyone recommend me an arm band case/pouch please?

Been using My Tracks to record my walks with the dog, but I have to keep the phone in my hand all the time, bit awkward!

There's hundreds of different ones for the iphone, but I can't find one to specifically fit the Hero, anyone know of one, or if an iphone one would fit? Cheers.

I agree too. I've never used apple app store so I can't compare but these days I never browse the android market because like you say, it's real chore. I just find apps from people's recommendations on here or other websites

the market on 2.1 is a lot better than on 1.5, you get to see pictures of the app itself, and can choose from, paid, free and just in apps, you get a bar at the top of the store with recomended apps aswell.

Still loving my new Hero but I'm getting intermittent problems with sending e-mails through a pop account. Anyone else having similar issues?

I've had one of these for a couple of weeks now, so far I love it. There is a but....what is everybody's battery life like? From a full charge I probably spend One hour browsing with mobile internet and around Forty five browsing with wifi, this leaves the phone near enough dead.

What is classed as heavy use? I've come from phones having symbian, so I'm new to all this.

Just think of it like this, you're using a phone to do what most laptops are capable of. Wifi/mobile internet drains the battery, just remember to turn them off when you're done and you'll be fine. With medium usage I can get away with a couple of days between charges.

Just got mine recently and it's a thing of beauty. Have to leave it boxed until the end of the month when my contract comes around though as I have no data allowance at the moment. It's killing me!

Just turn off data?

There's a distinct lack of pictures and screenshots in this thread!

When you put it like that it makes sense. I've turned of the internet when not in use and it's made a huge difference, thanks for the tip. :)

Thats pretty poor. I'm sure I get more life out of mine. If I "reboot" the phone so all the services and apps are running I struggle to get 24hrs of life out of it. Thats with a bit of browsing and a few short calls and sms's thrown in. If I regularly kill the apps with ATK then the life and resposiveness of the phone is improved, 2 days.

Killing the data connection will make a big difference to battery life but I use the connection so frequently it would really hamper the usefulness of the phone. It's a necessity when out an about on holiday though! Has anyone seen a Data "toggle widget" like the Wi-fi, GPS and bluetooth?
