PS3 Firmware 3.21 Ready

Not really an option to disagree and not upgrade if you cannot use the PSN anymore and future games might not work.

I think they put the firmware update on the disc and if the console is out of date it will ask you to install it before you can play (like they do on PSP). So as they say in the release notes any software requiring 3.21 or later won't work unless you update.
 
This update doesn't bother me seeing as I have a Slim. Even then if I had an orignal PS3, couldn't give a damn about the Linux stuff.
 
Omg im still downloading this crap update 53%, what a painful slow download ............ :(
 
The whole palaver is just one of Ken Kutaragi's "supercomputer" ideas he had about the PS3. Jack of all trades, master of none. Thank goodness Kaz Hirai is sorting that out and concentrating on its major assets - game and Blu-ray player.
 
What do they mean when they say "the quality of some PS software has been improved"? It's been a regular thing but surely the software is improved by individual patches? :confused:

It says "playback quality", so it's presumably talking about glitches, crashes or other issues that have been identified to be due to the system software.
 
not upgraded yet but will do, not really fuss abou the removal of other os. I use it to play games that all.
 
I wonder if a few months down the line, fat PS3s that haven't been updated will be worth extra? Been thinking about getting a slim for a while so this could be a good opportunity ;).

I've heard there's work arounds, but frankly, I don't care that much. It annoys me it's a feature removed, but I've never used my PS3 for linux, and hadn't the intention to do so... meh.
