*** Final Fantasy XIII ***

Finished the main bit of the game now and was wondering what I should do to get a Genji Glove ASAP?

What mission should I do and is it unlocked or should I just do the missions out of order when I see a waystone close?

I find it very confusing where all the missions are and which I still have to do

you won't need a genji glove till you have 2500+ str or magic :)
I noticed on some occasions that Fang did 99,999 damage on a staggered enemy and I think her strength is ~2700 as I got the Growth Egg in chapter 11 and as such got a lot of CP in the final chapters

I found a map that displays the missions on it and I guess I will just go and do some missions as I think I need to complete lower missions before the Genji Glove missions are unlocked?

Twobrothersandasister.com have maps with the locations of all the mission waystones and a guide for each of the missions

Oh Em Gee! Bathandelus in chapter 11 is solid, managed to kill him after about 4-5 tries. Epic 20 min battle with about 200 left on doom, most intense encounter yet!

I was trying to beat him the other night, the Doom counter just beat me by just a bit. If i'd have had another 30 seconds i would have killed the sob, damn was i annoyed :P.

I honestly don't even remember a Doom counter on Ch11 Barthandelus.

Must have pwnd him too fast.... YYYEEAAAAAAAHHHHHH

I killed him first try with my usual setup of Com-Syn-Sab (Light, Sazh, Vanille). Then switching between Med-Syn-Med, Com-Rav-Rav and Com-Rav-Med. I'm fairly sure I could have shaved a few minutes off my time if I'd also had either a Com-Syn-Med or a Med-Syn-Sab setup going.

Can't say he ever casted, or tried to cast Doom on me...

Same, ripped through him no fuss.

From what I've read he only ever casts Doom if you are taking too long.

It's the games way of saying 'Kill him already!!!' :D

Good game even though it took a while to get interesting. The main story felt way too easy I think I only died once (first eidolon battle) and never did any grinding/farming - would be good if they released a hard-mod update.

Some of the missions are a good step up in difficulty though, died about 5 times on that damn growth egg one :p.

Does anyone have any good tips for killing adamantortoises (in one stagger, without death/summon)? I can easily kill them in two staggers, or with a summon but for some reason I can never do it in one stagger, even though I've seen videos of people with lower-stat characters than mine do it (got Genji gloves, applied debuffs/buffs).

PaulM, use vanille and spam death after you summon, I used a SAB/SAB/SYN setup so i would always have 1 party member debuffing and 1 party member putting on haste for quicker results, also an upgraded belladonna wand helps (improved debuffing)

this doesnt ALWAYS work before the adamantoise stands up, but it is an alternate way to kill them, if they stand up i would just retry

With genji gloves, buffs and debuffs all you need is to escalate the chain gauge to 999% (I use tri-disaster rav, rav, rav) then switch to aggression (com, com, rav) and before the stagger wears off use Fang's highwind. If that dosen't kill it before it gets up then you just need to get stronger. I found with the adamantoise that before you knock them down you really should get all your buffs reapplied as they don't stay down long enough for you to buff, debuff, stagger then kill.

Personally even with max stats and fully leveled ultimate weapons i found that just summoning off the bat and spamming death was always far quicker then beating it down. Took me around 2-4 minutes to take one down from scratch. 10 seconds - 1 minute to take one with death and 2, 30 second fights to get tp back. Since up in eden things are closer together dosen't take long to go from fight to fight and can easily respawn the single adamantoise with the save point or just by going through the door at the end of the corridor.

Most importantly to me at that point was to be able to do that without paying attention as it was very boring, i barely even have to watch the screen when i farmed using that method.

a quicker way of respawning the adamantoise in eden is to run down the stairs past the behemoth and juggernaut till the bend in the road before you get to the two behemoths, that is about where you need to run to respawn him, its quicker than going all the way back to the door, then again thats only if have the tp to spare

Is a nice way for low level teams to fight the 'toises, the stagger maintenance from sazh's guns being quite handy. ~2-3min fight everytime, and a quick run to the top of the stairs near the door to respawn (you don't have to actually go through the door if you don't need more tp and you can get there without a fight if careful).

I find the death spam trick very tedious, in sab/med/sen my team can go forever and I've spent 15+mins on one fight spamming death with no result and a very dull i'm bored of this death of my team. A bit too random for me.

Great game, about 8 hours in so far. Paradigms are cool except I'm getting confused who should be best for what in certain combinations, e.g. Vanille as Saboteur or Medic?!

Both?

To be honest is is very hard to decide only one out of them seeing as she is great on both roles. Try concentrating on getting new abilities on the Crystarium if you can so it eventually balances out.

Have just got the Omni-Kit to upgrade my weapons, and had a thought- I'm not using any kind of guide at the moment as some of you are, will this hinder my progress in any way? Because there's so many potential combinations of Crystarium paths and weapon/component upgrade possibilities (as with any FF), would be it advisable to use a guide to spot the best combinations and who is best for what role? (although that takes some of the fun out of it doesn't it?)

only being 8 hours in if you are playing vanille you should stick with medic for now, she is a fantastic Sab in the later stages of the game because of her improved debuffing weapon
