nobody interested in this? last year a 100 to 1 outsider won, which meant big payouts to whoever was lucky enough to guess right. i know someone who won, they just shut their eyes and pointed at the newspaper, put £20 on it (£10 to win, £10 each way) won about £1400 if i recall rightly, very jammy.

anybody gonna bet on this year? im thinking of doing so "according to john" looks like a good sneaky bet of £1 then maybe a fiver on one of the top 3

Won about 4 times now in the last ~7/8yrs.

Mon momme got me a tasty ~£250 last year. Had a fiver ready to place on him but switched it to £2.50 E/W at the last minute. FAIL!

looks like your a bit of an expert, any tips/predictions for this year?

how did you know to pick mon momme? as i said previously he was a huge outsider

guys last year was a rarity which wont be happening any time soon mark my words!

mon mome was way overpriced, hes a good horse and that has been backed up by a placed finish in the strong fielded gold cup...

i personally will be having a punt on tricky trickster and my outsider being dream alliance :)

I fancied tricky trickster as well but after his poor form at Cheltenham it's hard to see him running well.

I wouldn't put it past Mon Momme to place well again this year.

Waiting for the final declarations before making my mind up.

I'm off the National on Saturday - looking forward to it as it's a superb day out.

Came home up last year :D Did quite well on the supporting races, Kalahari King started the day off in great style for me.

I will be in Manchester this weekend and looking to get a train up to aintree.

However i don't want to go up if i can't get in..... The www.aintree.co.uk website does not have an option to buy tickets to the steeplechase enclosure. It says tickets available on the day at the gate!

What time do you need to arrive to ensure you get in? Don't want to trapse up there and not get in!

Anyone with prior experience able to offer advice?

I'll be putting down a bet or two. Won a little under £2000 over the last 2 years from it so hoping to continue the win spree this year.

nobody's giving out any tips then i see, just the odd 1. horse racing is the most corrupt sport in the world, probably the reason why mon momme was 100-1 last year. football comes in as the second most corrupt.

black apalchi done quite well until near the end last year, i think it may be his year this time, i really have no clue, but will probably place a tenner on a random to ride my luck, ive won about £100 on the football this week.

I tried a couple of years back unsuccessfully, unfortunately I can't recall what time we got there, must have some time in the early afternoon. Who knows what it'll be like this year though. We ended up just jumping the train back into Liverpool (takes about 10 mins) and had a bit of a pub crawl instead, usually a great atmosphere on grand national weekend. :)

I work in a bookies. Mon Mome is 2nd Fav, ran very well at Cheltenham. Placing a bet is relatively easy, especially on GN. They make "quick slips" for betting newbs and will have staff out on the shop floor :)
Back an outsider on E/W :) - Going to have a punt on "State of Play" this year.
