earliest game that got you hooked?

The first game that got me hooked was probably either Stryker's Run or Chuckie Egg on the BBC Model B. On the PC I think it may have been SWOTL (Secret Weapons Of The Luftwaffe).

Hi all,

Carrier Command on the Spectrum 128 (Thats a whole 128 kilobits!). For its time Carrier Command was an innovative and ahead of its time game 20 years ago...I must have blown the enemy carrier 50 times over the years. It even came with itd own theme song on cassette tape to :).

Oh and my other fave game of the time Renegade, on the Spetrum 128, you got a whole extra level over the 48 k version of the Spectrum. I loved that machine but boy tapes took ages to load a game. Psst I got finger ache from doing flying kicks to all the enemies!

My first PC game that I got hooked on was Homeworld 2, only problem now being it does not work with my new PC....cry.

Cheers

Von

If I must be honest the earliest games that got me hooked was

"Look north"

You see nothing

"Look west"

You see a man sitting in a chair

"Punch man"

Sorry I dont understand

"Have sex with man"

Now theres no need to say that

And so on :)

It was 'Hidden and Dangerous' for me. I bought that game shortly after receiving my first PC for Christmas to find that it ran like a dog! I had to buy a VooDoo 2 graphics card in order to play it. So not only was it my first game on the PC but it was the first game that forced me to have to upgrade :p

Definately Super Cars on the Spectrum. I spent so may hours perfecting the backwards shooting missiles!

Later on though, TFC on the PC. I could not put it down until the phone bills turned up every month and I'd get banned for a couple days before talking my way back online. :)

Project One on Amiga 500. Though I later found out my mum and dad were more hooked on it than I was! On my 7th birthday apparently they set it up the day before my birthday but played Project One on it until 5am trying to complete it!

I got the Amiga, 2 joysticks and some packs of games. Power UP, Fists of Fury and Hollywood collection. 4 or 5 games in each pack that I still remember to this day - Double dragon, Dynamite Dux, Robocop, X-out, Indiana Jones, Altered Beast, Rainbow islands, Ghostbusters...
Think I also got Deluxe paint, Shadow of the beast, Nightbreed some others but my dad must have played these

I got pretty hooked to Command and Conquer Tiberium Sun when I was pretty young, and then WoW was the first game that had me properly hooked.

8 hours a day, 7 days a week. Took me a year and a half to realise what it was doing to me. Still get nostalgic from time to time, miss my friends from it the most I guess. WotLK ruined it for me :(

The earliest game I think that got me hooked on PC's was Ghosts n Goblins. Had it on the Spectrum and C64 and used to love playing it. I think games such as Bubble Bobble, Rainbow Islands, Finders Keepers, Nodes of Yesod, etc. just sort of consolidated it.

Well on my 386 I was hooked on:
Civilization 1, Space Quests 1-4 (3 clearly the best), Commander Keen.

Then moved to a 486 where I was completely hooked on transport tycoon and Red Alert.

The first time I've ever felt serious game addiction was Elder Scrolls Oblivion- I just couldnt get myself to leave that game- I know a lot of people dont like it, but I was completely sucked in.
